It had been almost five years since Leia had seen Bucky. She thought about him every night when she helped Becca get ready for bed because she always saw him in her eyes. She gave their four year old daughter a kiss on the head and tucked her into her bed before walking back into her living room. Leia was grateful that she didn’t have to work tonight and could have a quiet night in. Of course the work she did wasn’t exactly legal. Then again she did what she did to give Becca the best life possible. She didn’t know how to find Bucky. He had left without a word and she never heard from him again. For someone she loved so deeply and believed loved her the same, she never expected to be abandoned by him. A few weeks later, she discovered that she was pregnant with their child. Leia could never regret her relationship with Bucky or having their child. The truth was that she still loved him and always would. She just hated that she had no way to find him. She was just doing what she had to do for her survival and that of hers and Bucky’s little girl. She refused to have any regrets.

Shuri finished the exam and assured them everything was perfectly fine with both Leia and the baby then Bucky took her back to their room. Leia laid down in the bed and Bucky joined her.

“What is it you want to talk about? Now that we are safe in our room and know the baby is ok, it’s ok to talk.”

Leia couldn’t believe she was actually going to this party at Stark tower. She was clad in a “little black dress” and heels with simple jewelry and her hair was actually down. Tony Stark was a man who she could never seem to escape. She had fought her feelings for the man for years because she couldn’t trust the playboy to actually mend his ways for a real relationship. They had met in school and sparks always flew between them but Leia always turned Tony away. She wasn’t sure if he had seen when she entered the party. He had actually held this one at Stark Tower. But, she went straight for the bar regardless to get a drink. She was sipping on her cosmopolitan when a handsome blonde with shiny blue eyes she knew to be Steve Rogers spoke to her.

“Hello,” he said in a kind voice.

“Captain Rogers,” she replied. “An honor and a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”

He offered her his hand and she shook it. She took it and they smiled at each other as they shook hands.

“Please, call me Steve.”

“Leia.”

“Wonderful to meet you, Leia.”

“The same save, Steve.”

She took another sip of her drink thinking that Steve seemed like a very nice guy so perhaps she wouldn’t be regretting coming to this party after all.

Leia stood at her desk and sighed aloud. It had been the day from hell! The museum was in an uproar over the new collection. She hadn’t been this tense in probably a good six months. The only good thing was her new assistant was starting today. Perhaps he could help with some of this mess the incompetent idiots in the records division had caused her. She rubbed her temples as she heard a knock on her office door.

“Come in,” she called out.

Leia walked into the house quietly after long day. She slipped off her heels as she walked through the living room to the kitchen. What she needed was a drink. She had a job to do that she couldn’t quite figure out. However when she walked into the kitchen she realized something was off. She wasn’t alone. There was someone in her house.

“Show yourself. I know you’re here.”

Leia had just stepped out from her building and into the street. It wasn’t a long walk to the city center to her favorite market. She walked the few blocks and turned just past her favorite coffee shop towards the open market. She was almost to the stand where she always bought pastries when she ran into right into another body. She nearly fell to the ground but the man quickly grabbed her arm to stop her from falling. It was only then she looked up into a familiar pair of blue eyes.

“Bucky?”

Leia sat up and wiped the tears from her eyes. She took a few deep breaths and tried to gain her composure. She still wasn’t sure why she stayed with John. He may have given her life stability but he treated her like shit. As she grabbed her keys and her purse to go to the store, pulling at her sleeves to try to keep the bruises hidden when she walked out the door, she remembered why she stayed. Those bruises were all the reminder she needed. She couldn’t get help. She was trapped with him and he wasn’t letting her leave. Leia was the trophy girlfriend that he probably intended to make the trophy wife.

Leia was busy sorting through her files while Sofie was at school. She looked at the photo on her desk and smiled. It made her miss the person in the photo with her that she always told Sofie about whenever she asked about the woman. She wished she knew where she was. When she made the decision to go to a clinic to have a child, she had wished that she and Natasha were still together. Instead she was doing it alone. Now, Sofie was in pre school at the age of three and a half. She was growing up so fast. It was rough doing this alone but she was determined to be a good mom. She heard a knock at the door and went to answer it. She wasn’t expecting company so it was a bit confusing. She opened the door and was completely confused by what she saw on the other side.
