i don't know why this is the first thing that came to mind but--i think he lost his dad really young, maybe shortly after moving to the US (perhaps that's why they moved, because he was sick and they wanted better care for him but there was only so much they could do). so he spent most of his life raised by a single mother with no father figure

i'll even add that he has a few sisters, no brothers, which he got teased about by other kids - on top of already being teased for his difficulty learning how to speak english/his thick indian accent (that he eventually grew out of, living in the US) and hanging around nerdy bird watcher leif.

so that's why he turned into this almost aggressive misogynist, bc he wanted to be taken seriously as a guy and prove his masculinity. but while that earned him more respect from his male peers, it obviously hurt his reputation when it came to women. (it probably also bothers leif, but he can tolerate it bc he knows it's just an act, and he gets to see the real tobin when they hang out outside of work.)

my hottest take is that i did not like the ball game scene at all 😬 i’ve tried so hard to care about z*max i have i really have but there is just no chemistry i see no chemistry the “cranberry leif”...

I’m with you on this: I enjoyed the Zoey/Leif scenes (Boss/Team leader dynamics) a lot! The players might have changed, but the 4th Floor Boss/Team Leader dynamics have remained great. Previously Zoey/Joan, now Zoey/Leif. I’m hoping their scenes and talks will remain as good. 

I was not a fan of Zoey/Max “dueting” scenes. Sure...choreo was well done and all, and there were a few moments of honesty (best part was when she was telling about what she’s thinking right now), but overall I never got the hype. (I liked the family breakfast scene the next morning a lot more than the parts that created the most hype for others)

And I’m a Z/M “shipper”! Even if I knew since midway S1 that I won’t be excited for the shippery stuff anymore...because of how it was all written. And so far my predictions on my reactions have been correct. And I also did not find it as funny (it worked with the S1 finale scene, but IMO didn’t work in this scene...the “comedy” of heartsongs “interrupting” private moments and all). But what made it hard to watch for me were the fast cuts...the fast-paced cuts/changes between the songs (one line from here, the other from there) ...that made it physically difficult to watch/listen... 

ETA: I have tried to re-watch it (btw, I watched it once...didn’t watch “live”...cause of reasons......then tre-watched a few times after it had aired, and then re-watched a few times in the mornin)g, and after several views it seems a bit better (to watch)...than during my initial view time.  So the positive take is that... it gets better (or I get used to it?)

7. what color brings you peace? idk i’ve never thought of it but i think dark blue. i have always felt connected to water and something about the deepness of this color is so calming and relaxing
