Well firsr of all do you know if this person is a minor? Because when I first started writing fic when I was younger I would use popular quotes or rewrite other passages from books in my fics because I didn't know how to write and loved those stories and wanted to emulate their style. Honestly this isn't so uncommon and certainly doesn't require a public shaming post, it not really your duty. Especially since fanfiction as a whole is largely plagarism without financial profit anyways.

First of all, I’d hope to God this person ISN’T a minor as they’ve written very explicit fanfiction that has been fawned over by adults and both the fics in question are raunchy as fuck.

Second of all, BEING A MINOR IS NOT AN EXCUSE. There is a marked difference from referencing a popular quote in your fic and copy/pasting a published work into Google Docs, changing the names/pronouns/fandom details slightly, and publishing it on AO3 as your own work that is simply “inspired” by the original. The latter is plagiarism and it is NOT okay.

This is uncommon. This does not happen and it needs to be called out as such. And also, fanfiction is NOT plagiarism. Fanfiction is a transformative work protected under fair use. This was not a transformative work. It was plagiarism. Making the fandom aware that it happened is not public shaming.

Also, plagiarism is against AO3′s TOS. While the fic has been reported to AO3 already, the fandom potentially reading this fic deserves to know.

Who would win in a fight? Look, I know canon implies that it’s probably Max what with the whole “secret buff” thing and also Leif’s whole “plus, what if he fights back?” bit but. Tobin spent three years in prison. He’s got to be scrappy af. My money’s on Tobin. 100%.

How do I ship them? Well listen. I’m a multi-shipping binch. I’ll ship just about anything romantically as long as it’s not weird/gross, and Tobin/Max is no different. In fact, I’m playing around with a ZEP S1 rewrite that makes the love triangle Leif/Simon and has Max sing ITILY to Tobin, so. I’m definitely on board with that ship. But in the context of canon, I’d really love to see a Tobin/Max friendship develop. That’d be some damn good shit IMO.

emotionally i see your several catguns and you are valid for them bc... yeah. iwytwm? is pretty much the result of me wanting to shift all things canon into the inevitable verse, glitch episode included, and uh... it’s spicy y’all. i am... very slowly plugging away but it’s all plotted out and i’ve got some real treats planned and this fic is going to take forever to finish barring some SERIOUS manic inspo but when it’s done it might be my masterpiece of the series because i have so much planned for it.

She tries and she fails, and the longer she watches them the more she wishes she could leave to go hide in an isolation pod or something. Anything to not have to keep looking at this because she’s starting to think she might’ve been wrong, that Leif is more of a bastard than she’d thought he was, and if that’s the case she’d rather not have it shoved in her face.
