Rayne was delighted to become a cool aunt to another niece, and made Leigh promise to call if she needed anything.

The Family aspiration is an interesting fit on her. Now that’s a person with a complicated relationship to her family.

Warren and Maria welcomed another daughter, Shae Mann, into the world.

With Grandma gone, Leigh cautiously approached her mother for homework assistance. Maria cried alongside everyone, feigning grief so convincingly that Leigh almost believed it.

Mom must have spent a long time practicing with the lie detector. For Daddy's sake, Leigh will as well.

Would you believe me if I told you Mary's final act was preparing a plate of cookies for the entire family?

I’m very sorry she’d had a horrible last round, but I think that on the broader scale, she’d had a great run: five kids, successful career, life in a lap of luxury. She’ll be missed.

Warren never learned of Maria's abuse: no one had the heart to tell him.

Leigh, on the other hand, didn’t know how to act around her mother anymore. What she did to poor grandma Mary was terrible… but it was Leigh’s mom. How could she be upset with her only mom?

A room away, Warren was eating Mary’s crêpes. Exhausted after his shift at the hospital, he was oblivious to the fact that his mother was being abused.

Mary, the Mann matriarch, continued to keep an eye on Warren's family, which included wife Maria and daughter Leigh. In a perfectly doting way, of course.
