like half of Cave's success as a courier is from him getting past other raiders via common knowledge among raiders being that jackals never travel alone and if you think you see a lone jackal youre looking at bait, and the other half is recognizing him as a guy who hangs out with great khans enough that theyd notice if he stopped showing up in their camp pretty quickly, especially if you know its specifically jessup he hangs out with (jessup is pretty infamous for being the ride or die type of guy in any circle familiar with khans) the great khans are most of the reason yvette the scorpions leader never tried to mug him for chems and chem ingredients, she could never be too sure he WASNT selling on behalf of the khans, that plus jessup would 100% square up if any of her men hurt his friend regardless of whether any other khans would back him up on it (which at least 2 of the khans strongest warriors would) and if he went down trying to avenge a friend the great khans absolutely would come down on her for him
Warren and Maria welcomed another daughter, Shae Mann, into the world.
Maria was expecting and thus busy with doctor appointments. To her surprise, she got along well with Cave—the awkward teenage boy she remembered had grown up to be a fine friend.
Academics aside, Ferris kept busy.
Out of the two younger Mann brothers, Cave was less outgoing, playful, and nice than Connor—yet he seemed to attract people more. As the youngest of five children, he was naturally used to being the center of attention.
