her face lit up the moment leila sat down across from her for the brunch event. carissa had been trying to attend everything she could because she knew that this whole thing only happened once a year and she didn't want to miss out making memories or getting further involved in the community. not only did it help her personal relationships but her professional ones too. "i feel like it's been forever since we've had a chance to sit down and catch up," she paused and nodded toward the drink menu, "and what better way than over some drinks. what's been going on in your life? did you go to the amusement park thing yesterday? it's not usually my thing but i hopped on a couple of rides."

It was a full house in the jam packed diner. Turns out, free milkshakes with any meal was just the thing the place needed to fill every seat in the house. He'd been lucky enough to swipe a booth the moment he'd stepped foot in the door, but as he watched people stand around to wait on their orders, he was beginning to feel guilty about taking up the space as he waited for his food. He noticed one of the faces in the waiting crowd and called over to her, smile widening when he caught her attention. There was a time where she probably would have preferred waiting until closing rather than taking a seat across from him, but he hoped that they'd gotten past that. "I've got an extra seat available if you're looking to eat in. I think I could use the company too, but your call. It's yours if you want it."

The elephant in the room wasn't an elephant at all, but she hadn't bothered moving the gift box since hauling up it the stairs Monday and, still undecided what to do, Phoebe opted that its place on the coffee table was a perfectly acceptable home for it. "My mom sent it." She finally addressed, as she reached for the controller to pause the TV, taking a break from the slew of rom-com movies she was marathoning with Leila that night. Not that she was exactly in the rom-com mood either, her mind briefly drifting to Foster, his crestfallen look in her doorway. Nope. No. Not tonight. "I don't know what it is, why she sent it, or what to do with it."

Phoebe got up from the couch, twisting her back as she stretched. "Do you think we're like, destined to end up like our parents?" She suddenly asked, the thought suddenly hitting her, glancing over at her friend, worrying her bottom lip with her teeth.

Toni was already at the bar in the popular nightclub, contemplating whether she should grab a drink while the bartender was accessible or politely wait for her date to arrive. Recent, unexpected, contact from her college ex made the urge pretty strong to toss back a pre-date tequila shot, but Toni ultimately refrained. Tonight wasn’t about her. It was about leaning into getting to know Leila better. Toni would not let her past ruin this potentially nice experience for either of them. Toni glanced down at the phone screen to check for an update on Leila’s arrival, but before she could send a message she heard the other woman call out to her. She smiled. “Hey, sunshine.”

The corn maze was tame by comparison to the haunted house she'd gone through with a death grip on a certain cowboy's hand. In her defense, it was in the best interest of every scare actor within if she didn't have free reign. "Hey, if you're going in to chase another dog, at least let me join you without having to run this time," she called out, spotting a woman she recognized from the bonfire weeks earlier. Parker nipped at her bottom lip, her smile inevitable as she stepped towards the mouth of the maze. "I was just about to go in myself. Mind a little company?"

“Hey,” Toni called out to a pretty brunette who’d entered the cozy cafe shortly after she had. She offered a smile when the stranger turned and made eye contact. “You look like you wanna help me..” she pushed the unoccupied chair at her table out then patted the seat in invitation. “You can sit.. if I can borrow a pen?”

Free admission wasn’t something that Ver could pass up on, especially when it was to a place she’d been curious about. On a normal day, she wouldn’t have paid for a ticket into the museum, but anything free had to be worth it, right? “Wow.” she hummed, spotting a familiar face checking out the entrance sign to the planetarium. “Who would have guessed that you’d be here,” she added in a teasing tone. “Want some company to the presentation? I heard some people talking about it whenever I was walking in and I don’t think I can pass it up.”

Since it was a nice day out, Leila had made the call to get out for a bit and be around the town. Letting Brock lead the way, they found themselves right on the path to the farmer’s market. It was a favorite of her dogs since there were always people willing to coo over him and give him treats any time that he walked by. They’d lucked out early on, getting a few treats for Brock and Leila buying a back of dusted almonds for herself to snack on as they walked around. She was browsing at one of the booths, looking at maybe buying a jar of jam for her breakfasts when someone piped up with advice from behind. Turning with a grateful smile, Leila set down the item she was looking at. “I was all in on jam before you said homemade ice cream and now…that sounds way better,” Leila admitted with a soft laughter.

Yao turned slightly away when the brunette put the jam back on the stand. He didn’t want the vendor to make eye contact with him and put two and two together. They were busy making change for another customer though, so they’d likely be fine on the business front. “Well.. it is pretty amazing. Fresh ice cream is a gift.” He smiled, turning to the woman then he noticed the canine companion with her. “Heey, who’s this guy?”
