Seeing the sentiment of "Rejuv is bloated and messy and these concepts would be better as smaller individual projects" does sadden me because I think the way all of these plot threads and beats interact and connect to one another makes it such an enriching narrative to me.

I mean yeah all of the concepts are individually Strong, and can work well on their own, but the reason Rejuv is so special to me is because of how complex and interwoven so much of it is (even if the humor kind of is just There to me a lot of the time, I dont mind it at all just sometimes jokes are placed at inappropriate story beats). If it were all just smaller projects and the like I don't think any of them would stick in my mind as profoundly or as importantly to me as it has.

Thinking about the fact that Garmadon has daddy issues and how much he adored Lloyd in the early seasons. He must’ve wanted to end the cycle of daddy issues. He wanted to be there for Lloyd, to be a good father. He fought so hard against the evil in his veins so that he wouldn’t have to fight Lloyd. He avoided it as much as he could. He wanted to be a better father than his dad was.

Oh the shame he’d feel seeing his relationship with Lloyd now. He wanted to be better but he failed. The cycle continues and spreads. First Spinjitzu Master made Garmadon feel unloved. Now Garmadon makes Lloyd feel unloved.

He didn’t at first. As a kid, their relationship was distant and rocky, but Lloyd never felt unloved. He knew his father adored him. He knew that if it weren’t for the venom, his dad would read him bedtime stories and hug him tight. But now those memories are all tainted by the man he has become.

The man who once would have ripped Ninjago apart to prevent himself from fighting Lloyd, is now the same man who cannot be around Lloyd without it starting some fight or argument.
