eshonai replied to your post: Okay. I’ve got about an hour until dinner and...
YAAAAYYYYYY! Tip: the book is pretty enjoyable without trying to figure things out, but if you’d like to, take a hard look at the poem Call to Shadow at the very beginning. There is a big reveal hidden there in plain sight.
Hmm. What I'm having more trouble with right now is keeping track of characters/places - I couldn't get a mental image of anything in that first segment and they're not on the map in the front since it's of a different continent so that was kind of confusing. Hopefully that will settle out eventually when the action moves to Genabackis and I can actually follow it visually to some extent. (I'm really map-dependent; it's a problem.)
I will take a look at that poem, though, because I suspect I'm going to need plenty of help with worldbuilding/plot stuff too...

Hopefully I can be insightful! So far all I know is that the prose is very dense. It's... gonna take some getting used to.
lemuffinmistress replied to your post: I want to try Glitch, but it requires me to name...
Glitch is super fun.
Cool to hear another recommendation! I'm quite intrigued -- it looks like the kind of game that may even interest some of my not-really-gamer friends to give it a shot.
First I have to name myself, though. Irascible Kumquat? The Inverted Pickle? Oxalis Oregana?
(YES I'm just putting random words together. Except the last one is the scientific name of a plant I have a ton of in my yard. IDK -- character and screen names I've used elsewhere aren't quite cute enough for Glitch.)
It looks like a kind of "comfort play" game. Maybe comfort food names? Colcannon is a good name, right? It sounds so much classier than "heaps of mashed potatoes."
Maybe I'll randomly flip through my french/english dictionary. That's always a fun way to come up with names.
