A Merry Monster Christmas Len Maxwell (1964)
Warning: loud noises at the start of video and at 0:49.
This is one of my favorite ‘weird Christmas’ albums. Aside from a couple jokes that have not aged well (and were better left in the last century), the skits and songs throughout are genuinely delightful. You can listen to the whole album here, complete with vinyl pops: http://YouTube.be/KiRtGr5jgmA.
The Crunch Bird (1971)
Directed by Ted Petok and Len Maxwell
This won an Academy Award, which once you watch this, you will realize has no real meaning. This works better as a story joke. The dialogue writing is bad and restates what the narrator just explained. As an audience member, you're ahead of the characters, which is frustrating. In short, this is one of my least favorite cartoons of all time. What a piece of shit.
So if ever you see someone getting what you find to be undue praise, remember that time determines what true art is.
