Last Stand by Ayrlego Via Flickr: With King Chartres new export taxes on Lenfel lumber, and a growing demand in Garheim for quality timber to build bigger ships capable of travelling to the new world, reports of illegal bands of Northmen and Outlaws raiding lumber from the vast forests of north western Lenfald have reached Grand Duke Alfred of Isil Oro. Responding to a request from the council of the coastal city of Nan Deorc, Alfred has dispatched a war band under command of Deorwine of Ambarvale to patrol the forests and hunt down any raiders. After his rangers had identified once such illegal logging camp on the banks of a small river in a remote area east of Nan Deorc, Deorwine struck at dawn, slaughtering the majority of loggers and burning their longships. A small group of warriors however managed to escape into the forest and Deorwine's war band has gave immediate chase. Using their superior local knowledge, the Lenfels managed to surround the survivors on a track deep in the forest. Despite calls for their surrender, the desperate Northmen lock shields and prepare for a last stand. However for the Northmen - both outnumbered and with nothing to match the powerful longbows of the rangers - the outcome of the battle was inevitable...
