Abandonment

The nature of my discomfort is Abandonment. It is mostly being alone in open places, especially in the night. It makes me feel like I am in a closed area, that someone can watch me from afar. I chose to use dark locations around campus, specifically in The Olde and The Commons where there is a lot of woods around. The lights in the photos are either singular road lights, indirect lighting, or lighting out of frame. The woods is also a very lonely place, especially in horror movies as it means that there is no one else around. Photographing in the locations altered my discomfort in a positive light. I feel like i can tell stories using each image. I can imagine seeing people interacting and taking space in the photo. It also influenced my discomfort by imagining the camera a serial killer, lurking around campus trying to find a new victim. My discomfort influenced the pictures by not having anyone be in the photos. To show that you are truly alone, that maybe you are the camera constantly in wooded areas alone in the dark. You can also envision yourself alone in the photo or even to want to explore these very eerie places.
