9S knows he can’t lose sight of his mission. Even without 2B, without any commander to report to, or without a clear enemy to fight, he can at least fulfill his purpose and collect data. Analyzing everything from soil composition to the types of algae in the waterways to the materials used to construct their dwellings. He told himself it could be useful to somebody, somewhere.
2B would have liked it here by the water, in the quiet of the forest. So many entities inhabit this lovely, mysterious place, but it’s grown late, the sun creeping below the horizon. Residents are returning to their homes, so he shouldn’t linger. He keeps his blindfold visor on, preferring the comforting familiarity of the fabric to having his eyes exposed, and besides, nobody is looking at him right now as he people-watches. He sits on the edge of a small artificial canal, letting his legs dangle.
Unknown Object. Unknown Object. Unknown Object. Human.
Although androids of his type had never been expected to come into contact with human beings, corners had been cut, old code copied over. The parameters for human life still existed within his internal database. Although his purpose for existing was data collection, all YoRHa were created for the same reason: to protect and serve humanity. For most of life it was abstract, distant as the stars, but right now humanity was right there, so close he could reach out and touch it. And before he knows it, that’s exactly what he’s doing, racing over and coming to a dime stop directly in front of Leo. He hurriedly salutes, slapping his left hand flat over his chest and bowing. “Glory to Mankind! I- please-” He stammers, head still lowered. “Number 9, type S. Please, let me assist you in any way that I can.”
