Sure, Spirit Quest released in 2016, received the Independent Video of the Year Award from Transworld and probably became your favorite video at the same time, so there is nothing new here. However, it could be argued that not everybody saw the video, and maybe you are one of those unfortunate people. Or maybe you are cursed with the mentality of “only caring about skateboarding and not weird editing in videos” like one friend of mine and refused to watch it out of pure ignorance. Or maybe you saw it, but it has been a while. No matter your position, the part is available, showcasing Leo in his full glory.
You know how media companies have to include disclaimers where something they report on involves a company or person with special interests tied to the organization? Well, I am biased here because Leo is my best friend, but before that he was my favorite skater from NYC. He can magically do anything and do it pretty quickly, but then want to do it again for another 2 hours despite landing it perfect first or second try. I was fortunate, and cursed, to watch the process that was making much of this part. I even clocked 22 miles on my motorcycle circling the block to pull him into that driveway over fence ollie. But take notice of the second half of his part where he begins to mirror each trick he does. Despite being his friend, the part is amazing and very complex. Do people do bigspins into fakie 5-0s??
And to tie things back into the magazine. Leo has been a regular around our pages too. He had a full interview in Issue 2, has a sick ‘Punctuation’ (ender) photo in Issue 3, and had both (front & back) covers of Issue 4. He’s a treasure...even if you have to wait forever for him to show up anywhere.
