“thank you, but I know what I’m doing”
THANK YOU IDEAS. ( ACCEPTING. )
chris redfield had a way with words and emotions unlike many others leon had encountered in the line of work they both did. he often assumed the other was a jarhead or just the typical asshole who managed to save lives --- like a rude emt with a duty to the people kind of guy. but over the years of running into him and sharing missions, leon can see that his persona was less asshole and stuck up, but his way of deflecting any fear coming his way. claire did it more than the agent can count, all smiles and her calm way of telling leon she could handle whatever they faced. it was brave, admirable even, but god did he fucking hate it. he wasn’t sure he hated it until this very moment, deciding that maybe it wasn’t so bad and could be overlooked as just a redfield trait but no, he knows it’s a peeve.
it wasn’t even the wording that causes leon to scowl deeply, arms folding tightly across his chest as he stares the other man down. how was it that chris didn’t even realize two guns were better than one? or was he really serious about leon’s well-being and didn’t want him involved? it’s the latter ( or not ) that grants just an ounce of anger to be removed from the blonde, a mixture of understanding and bemusement flashing in his eyes. ❝ then i’m coming with you to make sure you know what you’re doing.❞ it’s leon’s way of saying that he cares for chris’ well-being too, equally as much, despite his hard time actually admitting it. saying that alone isn’t enough to shut the man up and before he can protest, leon quickly replies with ❝ i’ll be fine, don’t worry, redfield.❞
