Leo: We referred to it as “The Ooze” back on Kryona... there were documents about it buried on some computers too, basically it was used and refined into serums or substances to give us physical bodies. Obviously, they used Lucario and Riolu DNA in the one used to make me, but Mutants like the ones back home were injected with it and gained weird mutations, like no eyes or different types or abilities.
For the Alphas, Betas and I guess Gammas... we were able to tolerate this substance and grew to adapt to those powers gained from it. Also, if you were a “Pure Beta”-a phrase I’m making up now-like Dicie... well... interacting with unrefined Ooze would... cause you to mutate even further and your body would break down... that... happened to my friend... Vou. He was lucky enough to revert to an egg... like me, but... if I’m any example... he won’t be the same if he does hatch...
Gareth: ... Hmm... thank you for telling me this and I do apologize for what happened to your friend.
Leo: Thank you...
Gareth: I do wonder though... the way this egg process works reminds me of Legendary reincarnation, it’s not exactly the same, but they do apparently reincarnate without intact memories of their pasts. That’s what Mewtwo tells me anyway, but, that “Ooze”... I wonder if it was somehow heavily tied to Legends in some way...?
Leo: ... Huh?
Gareth: You see, Mewtwo would tell me stories about the Mew of the past... especially the ones before the current one. They kept claiming to be “creators” and that he was a “mistake”... myself included. If that... if that statement of theirs had any realism to it... there had to be “mistakes” they dumped somewhere, right? What if that was Kryona...? And what if Mutants had some of that energy? Even a tiny bit of it?
Leo: You think I have some kind of hidden Legendary power? That’s...-
Gareth: Yes, I know, crazy... but not something you could tap into, but something I could use as an amplifier for my own powers. What if we combined our abilities to track a Legend? Like the current Mew? We need to be prepared for when he-
???: It’s a good idea, in theory...
