sadly this is very true. if this weren't a children's series i'd say percy or annabeth would die, but because this is intended for middle school age children, and even though it's going the harry potter direction, rick's not going to kill the main character.

what if that person happens to be Leo at least he isn’t romantically attached to anyone so he can at least spare the pain of hurting what could be his most important person

to be honest, i'd be okay with that. well not okay okay i will sob my freaking eyes out but it would make sense for rick to do that. HOWEVER i also kind of want one of the people in a relationship to die because feelings and i'm that kind of person but
