She’d been in the middle of painting, so in-the-zone that she nearly missed the buzzing of her phone. Eyebrows knit together curiously upon seeing Jill’s name flash across her screen. Sucking air through her teeth, she answers – hesitates.
“Hello?” And there it is, that familiar voice. A smile ghosts across Leo’s lips as she talks. “Yeah, wow, I… I haven’t talked to you in forever.” It feels a little awkward on her end, though Jill seems entirely normal about it. “I’m good! Yeah, I’m good, just… you know.” A wave of her hand like the other girl could see it. “…Painting, right now. What- what about you? How’ve you been?” Now she’s up and pacing, spinning in slow circles. “Are you still in town?”
