Just some little things to know about our fav legendary boys, Papyrus and Sans!
You can read their home and backstory here!
The pair of brothers are both psychic types, but I'm not entirely sure about their secondary typing. For sans I'm thinking either psychic/normal or psychic/dragon, and for papyrus either psychic/fire or psychic/fighting.
The size of their true forms is somewhat small for a legendary, more akin to the size of Latios and Latias: person sized! Actually these two seem to have inspired the boys’ designs in my mind: not too big, somewhat friendly but definitely not an average pokemon!
Interestingly enough, if anyone describes the boys’ human form, the description will always be focused on their personalities and some rough descriptions of their appearance at best. People remember Papyrus being tall and loud, that's for sure! And Sans is definitely a lot smaller! A laid-back dude!
Oh what did he wear yesterday? Good question!
…I don’t remember…
…
Skin color? Oh yeah he sure had one…
Hmmm…
Anyway yesterday Sans pranked the candy store owner with a whoopee cushion??!?-
Papyrus would love to help people train their pokémon! He adores the bond between trainers and their pokémon, and thrives off of their passion and determination!
People would ask him about his team when he offers though, and that just gets them a fidgety “oh would you look at the time! It sure seems evident that I am needed to help with market preparations! But perhaps we’ll spar! Next time!”. Then he does an impressive leap into an open window of a random house and he’s gone. What a guy.
You can also ask him to help you prepare for beauty contests. He has a very good eye for those, and although his choices are… non-standard, they have a 80% chance of actually being really, really good.
Sans doesn't really care for or about battling, but if you ask him about beauty contests he’ll at least humor you by joining you for prep time.
His suggestions are ridiculous and none of it is helpful.
He does seem to be enjoying himself though, and if he’s tired enough you can use props and make-up on him to make him look silly “to match his attitude :p”.
If anything, prepping with him does make you and your team far less nervous. No judge could ever give you feedback that's more outta left field or ridiculous than he and his brother can, so you can handle anything now!
Papyrus definitely still gets lovingly attacked by dog pokémon all the time. He’s a magnet for them, they love him! His reaction can be best described as “exit, pursued by bear dog”.
I mean it doesn't always happen, but they do like to mess with him, so it is also often times the other way around. Don’t try and keep an important conversation with him when there's dog pokémon nearby, because you will be interrupted!
Sans will tell you what your pokémon are thinking/saying unprompted. This tends to feel like he’s doing a bit, but he’s always telling the truth, or at least a half-truth. The bit is that he’s not doing a bit. What a funny guy!
Papyrus' cooking is in an odd position here: if there's a person to supervise and give advice, Papyrus can actually make a few really tasty dishes! However if left alone he doesn't really realize the way certain appliances work, and might experiment with ingredients that only certain pokemon or humans can eat, like uncooked wheat! Or pokemon berries! Or rocks! He’s personally not the biggest fan of rocks, but he has friends who love them!
Sans absolutely does not count as supervision by the way. He doesn’t care what is made as long as his bro is happy, and if the kitchen is burned down in the process he’ll probably sleep through it anyway.
Despite him having the personality of a “dude who has a little truck he hangs out the window from to talk to u”, the only thing people actually see Sans drive are the tricycles he “borrows” from the town kids. Does he do it to entertain them or does he genuinely think they're fun? Hard to tell. The teens in town like to point at silly cars and other vehicles they see and tell each other it's his. He thinks it's hilarious and definitely plays into it.
Sans is the kind of guy who will walk you home at night if you work late shifts, and Papyrus will princess carry you if you are injured, even if it's just a scraped knee. In both cases, enjoy the view!
Most of their rare time away from any people or pokémon is spent either protecting everyone from an evil team or from agitated pokémon from the mountain. The latter tend to be ghost pokémon and pokémon living in harsh conditions, so no one really blames them for being irritable. These pokémon have been acting up far less the past few weeks though. Perhaps something happened?
Tidbits about the lepom horror boys, Skull and Sugar 🤍
Some little facts and ideas about the Legendary Pokémon Horror boys, plus a better idea of what they are like! (and what they like to do with you <3!)

Rock/psychic types, due to their species’ first typing always being psychic, and them being revived fossils which adds a rock typing!
They can both send huge pulses of levitation magic, as opposed to the smaller but more controlled version Sans and Papyrus can, due to their core memory of needing to keep the entire ceiling of a cave up long enough for people to evacuate. They can't teleport though: it seems as if that is a skill that has evolved when the guarded area became bigger: going from the mountain and its immediate surroundings to to an entire region, which is closer to a large country in size.
Sugar’s crystals glow in the dark just like the crystals littering the caves. Outside of the mountain this would make him stand out in the dark, making going outside a little unnerving for him as well. Inside it actually camouflages him completely with the caves though, and he accidentally jump-scared you more times than you'd like to admit. Or maybe he did it on purpose. You still have some trouble determining just how mischievous this dude really is.
Skull has quite a blank stare starting out, not having eyes or even eyelights, but he learns to create eyes as time goes on. He usually goes with a version of a duskulls’ glowing red eye, as they were the first ones to offer to teach him and they get along well. In time, other eyes may be added to the roster. I personally think you two should hold your own little private pokémon beauty contest and you should teach him to create anime eyes. Instant win.
Sugar is a great storyteller: his role in officiating marriages, leading rituals and tasks like that have made him great at speeching, getting people's attention, getting at the core of the matter and all that jazz. He loves to recount stories of how things used to be to the younger pokémon. Don't get it wrong though: he’s just as good a listener as he is a speaker, and he loves hearing stories and new info about the world around him. Just don't pressure him to find out about this new world too soon ok? Give him some time to adjust.
Skull loves listening to these stories, and still has some faint memories of hearing ancient sugar speech near the temple, surrounded by humans and pokémon. If he closes his eyes it's almost like he’s there…
Sugar, ever the multitasker, was also one of the trial masters of the area! Specifically in charge of the more physical puzzle aspects, Sugar was in charge of designing trials for anyone who had something to prove: coming of age rituals, trials to pass before joining a high ranked position, you name it!
Those who wanted to prove themselves before they left the mountain in search of adventure would come to ask for a trial based on their strengths and weaknesses, and he would pour his soul into that special design. And don’t think that he’ll go easy on you: falling down is a part of life. Now what will you do, brave human?
Skull would help his brother with the puzzles. As in, he would use his levitation magic for certain parts, make sure no one gets hurt, and maybe give some advice now and then. His own trials however, would be the judge of character, and he would be a voice of letting people learn life lessons. If Sugar made sure that people knew that when you fall you always get up, then Skull was the voice telling you to reflect on your past and let go of it, decide what you want now and use that knowledge to do it. He wouldn't tell people what's right or wrong (although he was usually the one to kick people out on the rare occasion it was necessary) but he knew how to get honest answers out of someone on who they are and who they want to be.
Skull is an absolute cuddlebug, and Sugar’s love language is full of acts of service and gift giving. This pretty much means that Skull will often curl up around you and fall asleep rumbling some deep purr when he gets to know and love you, and Sugar will usually be cooking you up many different things, as they combine both of those love languages quite well:
You can create a cuddle pile with Skull and all your pokémon if you all need a rest, and he might transform into an even bigger pokémon to fit you all on top of him. Talk to him like this and you can feel him rumble out his answers, scratch or pet him he’ll be putty in your hands. This absolute sweetheart would even put energy into trying to regulate his temperature to make everyone comfortable. Hot outside? He cools himself a few degrees. Cold weather? He’ll warm himself up like a radiator. It takes a long time for him to (re)learn this skill, so do let him know you appreciate it!
Besides cooking and baking for you, Sugar would love to teach you some recipes too! Maybe even some medicines and local delicacies while you're at it! And he’ll be talking about what he knows about it the entire time, inquiring about your preferences and stories as well. He doesn't really have the energy to match his enthusiasm anymore though, so be sure to help him take a break and talk to him so he can sit back and listen. His loss of energy used to bother him immensely, but sitting like this, eating a dish made with a new recipe while listening to you talk about what has happened recently, it might not be that bad at all.
Skulls name plate actually went from ‘unknown pokémon skull, damaged by falling debris', to 'unknown pokémon skull, damaged', to 'unknown damaged skull', 'damaged skull' to finally just 'Skull', and I need you all to know that the kids in that town have a lot of power man. They change history. They pick fates. They tell the museum staff they’re being meanies and everyone's just like “Dang I guess you’re right let’s fix that”. They live in the perfect society tbh.
Today it's Horror! Sans and Papyrus as legendary pokémon!
Learn more about their home and the discovery of their fossils here! :)
Now Sans and Papyrus are from this long ancestral line of protector-pokémon, with them being the new generation. However, their family tree seems to be growing some odd branches…
You see, no one has realized that some of the excavated fossils actually belonged to the ancient ancestors of the legendary guardians! Not only that, but these two truly were pokémon of legend, having protected people during the cave-in of the underground and unfortunately having met their end doing so.
The names and legacies of these pokémon are unfortunately lost to time, but recently, a group of scientists has requested temporary access to the fossils for more accurate time dating, cross referencing their database with their DNA in order to determine their species, and collecting data on the fossils with equipment the museum doesn't have. You know, normal nerd stuff scientific proceedings.
What they didn't tell the museum staff however, is that these fossils would be part of a new fossil revival program. You see, when a fossil has lethal physical damage they can't be revived using the normal method as the damage would be perfectly recreated and would kill the poor pokémon a second time. Therefore, an experimental method was used: a mix of cloning and the revival procedure used for other fossils. And to their credit: it worked!
However, the panic of waking up in a place that looks like nothing you’ve ever seen before, combined with your last vague but pressing memory being the panic of a crumbling cave system and the urgency of mass evacuation, meant that Skull immediately broke out of containment, broke everyone else out of containment and then rounded everyone up for evacuation outside.
Once everyone was accounted for they took off, and instinctively the guardians found the place their species once called home: Mount Ebott. The group burst in from the top and hasn't left since.
Skull has trouble speaking fluently and has a somewhat slower perception, and the hole in his skull is,,, well, it's in a weird state, obviously. It's not healed (it CAN’T be healed), but it's not an open wound he could die from due to the revival process. He clearly has some memory problems due to both the revival process and the wound, and he needs to be stopped from scratching at it often, as it seems to be a subconscious move.
The distress from it gradually lessens as he settles into his new environment: he has his brother by his side, and though his memories are few and confusing they are still a great comfort to him.
It does however influence his ability to transform: where Sans and Papyrus can use their magic to mimic pokémon and humans near perfectly, Skull does not have stable control of his magic due to the wound, resulting in skeletal versions of whatever he's trying to mimic. It's... an adjustment, for sure. Luckily the pokémon instinctively trust him a bit, so he won them over despite everything. Speaking of which:
Skull loves observing humans and pokémon as much as the others of his species, and although he misses the abundance/presence of people and the holidays, he gets fulfillment out of observing and interacting with the ghost pokémon (who seem to recognise him somehow?) and the new species that migrated into the mountain after the incident. They are just as curious about him as he is about them, and his gentle giant demeanor is immediately rewarded by lots of attention from the younger pokémon.
Sugar used to help set up celebrations with everyone. Therefore, he knows the place like the back of his hand!! Or rather knew. Where Skull sometimes has trouble remembering the past, Sugar has trouble not remembering it. He keeps feeling like something should be right here only to find the spot empty or unreachable. He could be of great help to archeologists, but it is very confusing for him. Due to both this and his somewhat poor eyesight, the pokémon surrounding him help him navigate and are very supportive.
They tried to help him recreate some of the older celebrations, but it just isn’t the same without human aid. They all got an A+ for effort though! Which means handmade festival treats for everyone! He knows recipes long gone, but he can't always get every ingredient. What he does manage to make (sometimes with help, as his body does not always do what he wants) is loved by most, except for the bitter medicines he sometimes ends up making.
Sugar can regulate his magic much better than Skull can but he, too, has some wonkiness to his transformations. Namely, his form seems just a little stretched, and if you look closely, you can make out some crystal formations on the left side of whatever creature he’s decided to become. As he practices the transformations more it becomes subtle like glitter, but it definitely is still there. Despite all of this, he actually tends to use a skeletal form as well, in solidarity to his brother. “Look, we match!”
Their memories are hazy, but they definitely remember evacuating everyone from the mountain as it rumbled around them. Any movement in the rocks sets them on edge, and they check the walls for cracks whenever they can. Not finding evidence of current instabilities in the main area combined with the tales of the pokémon currently living there helps to soothe their nerves bit by bit.
Eventually, when they are calmer, they start recalling earlier, far calmer memories: bouts of laughter between siblings, the pride of the youngins who pass their trials, the kindness of a flower handed to them in good faith. And also the rougher, but necessary things: Tussling with each other, mending wounds with bitter recipes, distracting upset children with stories. The rush of fighting off alpha pokémon who encroach on their territory. Sleeping the tiredness off in a warm corner of the temple.
The brothers are quite content now, living with each other and the next generation of pokémon in their glowing mountain. Life is good.
Here's the general gist of the au! Check out the masterlist or tag for any individual stories :)
What iffff the undertale skeleboys were the equivalent of legendary or mythical pokémon to their region?
I tried to see if this has been done already, but all I'm finding is the boys as trainers, which is its own heap of fun of course! It’s not quite what I have in mind though:
I’m imagining the beautiful and overall peaceful world of pokémon, where besides the occasional world ending plot of a maniac, life is super quaint and aesthetically pleasing, and people are friendly and encouraging. I think making different stories for the different aus as legendary pokémon would be fun :3!
In most pokémon movies people don’t seem to really want to catch a legendary, either out of respect, because it's considered difficult/impossible, or because they don’t believe in the legendary’s existence altogether. That's something I want to keep in these stories too! It really preserves the characters as individuals rather than cool pets.
I intend to make this a topic for some x readers (cuz I love those), but the first posts are just area and character background and the first tryouts for fun!
I will tag these posts as “legendary pokémonsters au” and the shortened “lepom au” so they can easily be filtered for and against as you see fit! (these were the only tags I could find that had no other meaning or were already a tumblr tag lol)
I’m afraid I don’t know how to design pokémon so their true forms are up to the imagination for now~
I’ll always incorporate their skeleton-ness in some way though! Perhaps legendaries having very little skin is just a given in this universe 🤷♀️
