Making music
The low whisle of wind rattled Spongebob's windows in his bedroom and slammed against his house.
"Oh gosh...That wind is loud, eh Gare?" Spongebob commented in surprise.
A soft meow was heard.
"But I can't sleep..." Spongebob frowned, "Oh well, I'll just go get some fresh air. Maybe then I'll get sleepy."
Spongebob's steps were light as he creeped into his front yard. He stretched his hands out, looking up into the night sky. He saw stars glittering up at the surface. He always thought they were so pretty. He sighed contentedly, closing his eyes. He was more relaxed than he'd been in a long time. It was...nice.
Spongebob gasped at a little gust of wind blowing through his pores, he felt the wind push him forward slightly.
He felt the wind pushing a beautiful whistling sound out of his pores.
"Oh wow...Thats so pretty.." Spongebob muttered, a small smile growing on his lips.
He swayed gently to the tune, closing his eyes and breathing steadily. Little did he know, Squidward was just inside watching the whole thing with a cup of tea. Squidward was having a hard time sleeping as well, he'd gotten a cup of tea and curled up by his window when he heard a sleepy sounding whistle paired with gentle humming.
He looked around outside, spotting Spongebob simply standing on his lawn swaying from side to side. What Squidward thought was shocking was how peaceful the atmosphere was, even with Spongebob in his presence.
"There's no way that beautiful sound could be coming from Spongebob." Squidward said, brushing it off.
He was standed corrected when Spongebob began to cover up a few of a pores and the pitch of the whistling changed. He began to make music.
A beautifully constructed, seemingly deeply thought out piece of art. Knowing Spongebob, Squidward had a hard time beileving the song was no more than an accident. But he couldn't deny that it was gorgeous.
Squidward leaned on the window sill, staring at the sponge through half lidded eyes. From Squidwards creaked open window, a big gust of wind blowed in. That gust brought in none other than a handful of jellyfish floating happily towards Spongebob, seemingly in a trance.
The jellyfish began to playfully nudge Spongebobs pores, helping the music.
Unfortunately for Spongebob, the jellyfish appeared to tickle. Squidward's theory was proven correct when a signature Spongebob giggle escaped him.
He quickly covered his mouth, "W-Wait...guhuys...." Spongebob whinned helplessly.
He knew he couldn't move in fear of the jellyfish breaking the trance.
Squidward sighed, "I knew this couldn't last.."
And sure enough, it didn't take long for Spongebob to break out into his annoying laughter. Squidward sighed, hurrying to the door, praying Spongebob wouldn't see the hue of pink on his flustered face.
"Spongebob, what are you doing? You're waking up the whole neighborhood." Squidward called, approching Spongebob.
"W-Waihit! Doho-ohnt come any closer!" Spongebob warned through his piercing laughter.
Squidward decided to egg Spongebob on.
"Oh yeah? Why not?" He teased.
"Thehey'll stihihing you!" Spongebob's laughter increased in pitch.
Squidward observed the cause of this to be the jellyfish figuring out they could zoom in and out of the sponges pores. Spongebob actually shrieked.
"O-OKAHAHAY SQUID, YOHOU CAHAN HELP NOW!" Spongebob cried out, looking very close to moving to break the jellyfish trance.
Despite the cute annoying desperate laughter, Squidward could still find it in him to tease Spongebob in this moment of complete softness.
"Ohh, no. I can't do that, rememeber? They'll sting me if I get close." Squidward giggled.
"N-NO OH NO PLEHEASE STOHOP-!" Spongebob begged, "IhIt tiiCKLES!"
Squidward didn't mind if Spongebob woke up everyone in Bikini Bottom, all that mattered in that moment was Spongebob...it felt weird to think.
Spongebob stopped laughing very suddenly and came crashing to the ground with a small gasp. Squidward heard one or two stings from some jellyfish.
Squidward's eyes widened, "Oh shrimp...Sponge?"
He rushed to Spongebob and kneeled down. Muffled giggles were pouring out of Spongebob. Squidward realized that the jellyfish were now snuggling into Spongebob's back, causing Spongebob to melt. Squidward felt his stomach explode with butterflies, adding this new fact about Spongebob into his brain for later.
Squidward laughed along with Spongebob, he couldn't help it. His laugh was infectious.
The jellyfish floated away after they had their fun, but Spongebob was still gasping for breath and tittering.
"Um...Sponge? Can you look at me?" Squidward asked awkwardly.
Squidward flipped Spongebob over onto his back.
Spongebob's face was completely flushed, eyes prickled with tears.
Squidward knew Spongebob's face mirrored his own, he'd been laughing along with him the whole time.
"Nnnhehahhehmmm.." Spongebob hummed, "m' all tickly.."
"That would be the jellyfish stings." Squidward said matter of factly, picking Spongebob up with a huff.
"What are you doing?" Spongebob asked.
"Don't make this weird or something. I'm just- I feel slightly responsible for letting you get stung. So I'm um...helping." Squidward explained awkwardly.
"Aww...Squiddy..." Spongebob gushed.
"Be quiet and let me put some stupid bandages on your stupid stings." Squidward said, faking irritation.
"Oh, alrighty."
Squidward smiled secretly.
Spongebob squeaked and giggled quietly as Squidward treated the stings.
"I'm not even tickling you. Idiot." Squidward huffed affectionately.
"You love me." Spongebob teased.
"I do..." Squidward muttered dreamily, his eyes glazed over.
Spongebob stared at Squidward, his cheeks flushing with excitement.
"DONT I DONT!" Squidward practically shrieked when he realized what he said.
"I love you too, Squid." Spongebob said simply, a content smile on his face.
Squidward paused.
"..Sure, Sponge."
