"Surprise." Alex smiled, holding the bouquet of flowers up as he looks at Connor. Connors eyes widened a bit, a soft smile gracing his face as he presses a soft kiss to Alex's jaw while taking the gift. "You got me flowers?" He giggled, going towards the kitchen for a vase and water.

"A beautiful gift, for my beautiful boyfriend." Alex shrugs, sliding his hands into his pockets and following towards the kitchen. Watching as Connor moved about to put the flowers into the water.

"You didn't have to do that." Connor said softly, but the smile never left his face. Alex leaned on the counter, looking at him with a fond expression. "Of course i did, love. Your smile is worth it."

Connors face flushes with color, as he slides over to Alex. Standing on his toes as he kisses him ever so softly, before pulling back. "I have a surprise for you too!" Alex raises an eyebrow in surprise, as Connor quickly left the room for a moment. "Oh?"

When Connor came back, he seemed a little more nervous. Holding something in his hand, as he stepped back up to Alex. "Yeah- it's just a little something." He murmured, as he opened up the small box in his hand.

"I'm not.. asking you to marry me yet. But, i am giving you this, so you know that i want to marry you." Connor said softly, and Alex's eyes widened a bit, starting to fill with tears.

"Where did you find that?" Alex squeaked out a little, although giving Connor his hand without hesitation. "I don’t know what to say…it’s beautiful." He choked out, as Connor slipped the ring onto his finger and gently kisses his hand.

"Mm, i have my ways." Connor grins at Alex's expression, combing his fingers through the taller boys hair carefully. "I think you're adorable." Alex rolled his eyes, but grins and leans his head against Connors neck. "Shush you sap. You're the adorable one here."

It started small, before it escalated into something else. They didn't argue often, but sometimes they just- couldn't help it. But Alex had come back bleeding and bruised, and Connor wasn't sure he could handle much more of it. Scrubbing at the blood stains on the carpet, near tears at the fact Alex could've gotten himself killed.

"Con-" Alex started softly, crouching down besides him and reaching out to touch him. Only to be met with a sharp, "DON'T." Connors voice wavered, wiping his eyes on his shoulder as he pulled away from Alex. "Don't touch me." Alex had flinched at the tone, his own eyes widening in surprise.

Connor was usually so patient with him, but maybe all of this was starting to take a toll on him. "I can take care of this, just go." Alex wasn't sure how to help this time, Connor never told him to leave. It would be a lie if he said that it didn't hurt, knowing Connor wanted him to leave.

Connor didn't really want him to leave, he wanted Alex to stay but he was afraid that Alex was going to get himself killed. "Please don’t make me say it again." His voice was softer now, breaking in some places and Alex realized that Connor was crying.

So again Alex crouched down, taking the cleaning supplies away from him before wrapping his arms around Connor in a tight hug. "I’m still here." Alex murmured into his ear, and Connor only cried harder. "I'm so sorry, I'm still here. I'm here." The two held onto each other until Connor had started to calm down. Alex gently kissing away his tears, and rubbing his back which soothed him greatly.

At some point, they'd found their way to the couch. Curled up together quietly, Alex dragging his fingers through Connors hair and Connor quietly sniffling. Alex was the first to break the silence, tilting Connors face up to look at him. "I got this for you." Connor was confused, until Alex brought out the gift. It wasn't very big, just something simple.

"I figured.. maybe you'd want a piece of me around for when I'm not around." Alex spoke softly, Connor in tears again at the necklace. "It's not a lot, and I'd undertsand if you don't want it but-"

Alex was cut off when Connor pressed their lips together, kissing him softly for a moment before pulling back. "I love it, and I'll wear it everyday- Alex I love-"

"I know." Alex nods, pressing a gentle kiss to Connors forehead as he clips the necklace around his neck. "I love you too, Connor."

"Hey, hey, hey- No, no-" The voice faded in and out as Darya drifted between conscious and not, she felt heavy, weighted down in a sheer veil of blackness.

The voice was familiar, panicked, and all Darya wanted to do was reach out and comfort whoever it was. "Darya- Darya please-" The way he said her name, brought her up a little, the person crying was Alex. "Stay with me."

Her eyelids flutter slightly, fingers flexing, when she opened her eyes, she was met with a very broken looking Alex. "A- Alex?"

Alex's eyes widened, as he pressed his hand over what appeared to be a bleeding wound on Darya's stomach. "Hey- Hey princess, there you are. I thought we lost you for a second."

Darya flinched at the pressure, her head tipping into the crook of Alex's neck as she takes a shaky breath. "It's cold- I wanna go home." Her vision blurred slightly, and Alex held her tighter.

"We're waiting for an ambulance right now sweetheart, as soon as we get you better, you can go home. I promise." Alex murmured, one of his hands ghosting over Darya's face before tucking her hair back.

Darya whines softly, and chokes a little bit on what tasted like blood as she grips Alex's shoulder. "Al- Just please be my best friend right now, not the guy I just confessed my love to.” she cuts herself off to try to breathe, as she blinks back tears.

Alex shook his head, gently shifting to angle Darya upwards to help her breathe. "I can't- I can't do that. You told me once that you thought i was afraid to be happy. And you're right, i was afraid-"

Darya shakes her head, bringing Alex's face close to press a gentle kiss to his lips. Her eyes pooling with tears starting to spill over, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry- Alex- I love- I love-"

"Don't- Darya please. You need to stay with me- I can't- I can't do this without you." Alex's voice broke, Darya starting to quiet down, the hands in his hair starting to loosen.

"Darya-" Alex pressed his face against her chest, his arms wrapping around her with a quiet sob. "Please- You can't-"

But she was gone, hands dropping, underneath the gentle weight of the person she'd loved the most.

"I think you're just afraid to be happy." Darya grinned a little bit as she looked at Alex across the table, tossing out little hints here and there but he just wasn't picking up on it.

Alex rolled his eyes and flicked Darya's forehead from across the table, before he smirks a little bit. "I think you're wrong, but okay sweetheart."

"Excuse me, I'm never wrong." Darya pouted, but smiled when Alex grinned at her. She laid her head on her arms as she listened to Alex ramble on to the entire table of friends.

Darya was lost in admiring him before fully picking up on the conversation, lifting her head a little bit her lips curled into a frown.

"Yeah, yeah. Anya and i have another date tonight." Alex smiled, answering a question from Iz. "She's great-"

Darya tuned it out, trying to ignore the sudden drop of her heart. So she packed up her bag, and moved to get up, Alex reaching out to grab Darya's hand. "Darya? What's going on?"

"Oh- Nothing. I just forgot some stuff i have to do." Darya shrugged, moving her hand from Alex's as she smiles lightly at him. "I'll see you later, have fun on your date tonight."

When Darya was gone, Alex frowned in confusion, “I missed something, didn’t I?” looking towards Connor who shrugged.

On her walk home, Alex caught up with her and wrapped an arm around Darya's shoulders. "Hey, what's going on? Did i do something?"

Darya shook her head, but pulled away from Alex biting on her bottom lip. "No, you're fine. It's just an off day." She took a few steps ahead of him, but Alex grabbed her hand again and tugged her back to him.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Alex frowned, still holding Darya's hand. "Talk to me, Darya. What's going on?"

Darya sighed, fidgeting a little bit before looking up at him. "Alex, i can't. You like Anya, i can't." Alex's eyes widened a little bit, as he interlocks their fingers.

"Darya, what-" Darya cuts him off with a soft kiss to the corner of his mouth, before pulling back. "I love you, you idiot."

"You - What?"

Alex.exe has malfunctioned, please restart your local dumb boy and let him reboot before continuing.

"Just- Just talk to me." Alex sighed, as he caught up with Darya in the hallway. She didn't respond, ignoring him, so Alex shot Connor a look. Connor simply shrugged not knowing what to do, he was just as lost as Alex was.

Darya knew she shouldn't have come in today, bruises spanning over very visible patches of skin, her lip split. She hadn't talked to Alex or Connor in days, they'd been so caught up in each other to even spare so much as a text her way, and she didn't want to bother them with it. But now, she was hurt and ignoring them.

Alex grabbed Darya's arm and pulled her to a stop, as he looked at her. "Will you stop! Please. Why won't you talk to us?" Darya shook her head and pulled her arm away from Alex, "You started it." Her words hurt, but not as much as her expression did.

Darya turned her face from him, pulling her backpack up as she near ran out of the school.

They didn't talk again for almost a week, a week of Alex and Connor going over everything. Realizing that part of the disconnect was they'd never responded to her messages, or any time she had called. She ignored them, because they had ignored her.

When they saw her, she was being shoved against her locker by a particularly mean looking classmate, he was almost half a foot taller than she was and Alex was furious. Pulling the guy away from Darya and shoving him into the lockers on the opposite side.

"Don't you ever, touch her again." Alex would've growled if he could, Connor pulling Alex back. "Al- Hey, relax." His voice was gentle, turning them back to Darya. "She's okay."

Darya stared at them, god did she miss them, and ignoring them hurt. She just wanted to give up this anger she felt and collapse into them. Her eyes pooling with tears that she blinked back, and crossed her arms over her chest. “Despite what you think, I am completely capable of taking care of myself.”

She was playing tough, but they could see she was so close to breaking. Connor reached out his hand and Darya flinched back just slightly before she leaned in. Letting Connor's hand rest on her face, as she leaned into the affection just slightly before pulling back.

"I'm sorry-" She shook her head and took a few steps back, before she was gone again.

Alex and Connor weren't sure what else they could do, she was pulling away from them, but all they wanted for her to come back.

It was late, Alex had gotten hurt, really and truly hurt and Connor needed help. So he called the only person he knew could help, and Darya had answered.

Surprisingly since the disconnect had happened, but as soon as Connor said that Alex was hurt, Darya was on her way.

When she got there, Alex was screaming, and Darya shot forward into the living room to be at his side. Connor working to get what appeared to be a bullet from his side.

"Al- Shh- Shh." Darya murmured, gently cupping Alex's face in her hands, as she pressed light kisses to his shoulder. "Can you breathe for me?"

Alex shook his head, hand covered in blood coming to rest over Darya's hand as he bit back a scream. “I can’t breathe”

Darya pressed her forehead against Alex's, taking a slow breath of her own. "Baby shh, you can. Just trust me. I'm here, Connor's here." Keeping her voice calm, gentle as she moved a hand to comb her fingers through Alex's hair slowly.

"I know it hurts, but it's almost over." Connor murmured, finally pulling the bullet out and starting to patch him up. Darya was crying, but quietly doing breathing exercises with Alex, letting him calm down.

When things had calmed down and Alex had been patched up and cleaned up, Darya was the first to say anything else. "I'm sorry." Her head was resting on Alex's chest, Connor was on the other side of Alex gently combing his fingers through Alex's hair.

"I was angry, and hurt and-" Alex cut her off, pressing a soft kiss to her lips as his arm tightened around her.

"It's okay, Darya. We're sorry too, it was-" Connor stopped, when Darya pressed her hand to his mouth, the kiss with Alex broken so she carefully leaned over and kissed Connor ever so softly.

"I love you, both of you." Darya laid her head back on Alex's chest, feeling more content now, the angry feelings gone.

"We love you too, princess." They really and truly did.

Also know as, Alex Hatfields No Good Very Bad Day.

Awful headspaces were more common than Alex would ever admit, they happened more frequently than he'd like to admit. And even admitting he was in a bad headspace was difficult for him, but all he wanted to to flop into Connor's arms and cuddle forever.

But, there was one problem. That would mean admitting he has more than just platonic feelings for his best friend. Add in the terrible headspace, and Alex was just terrified of it.

So that's how we got here, Alex curled up under a pile of blankets in the middle of a dark bedroom. Just wallowing in feelings, almost as if he were drowning in them.

He didn't hear his front door open, or the quiet shuffling into his room until there was a weight shift on the edge of the bed, and a quiet, "Alex?"

Connor kept his voice gentle, as he started to peel back the layers of blanket, effectively releasing Alex from his cocoon. "There you are, I've been calling you. Are you alright?" Although he asked the question, Connor already knew.

Alex forced a smile to his lips, trying to make it convincing as tears started to build in his eyes. "I'm fine, Con. No worries." His choice of words tipped Connor off even more, Alex only used Fine when he mostly certainly was not fine.

“Stop pretending you’re okay, cause I know you’re not.” Connor shook his head, tugging Alex into his lap and wrapping his arms around the taller boy. That was all it took, Alex succumbing into a quiet fit of sobs.

Pressing his hands over his eyes as Connor gently rubbed his back, Alex's mouth stumbling over apologies as he buried his face against Connor's chest. Connor gently combing his fingers through Alex's wild mane of usually tightly wound curls, his other hand rubbing along his back.

"You don't have to apologize, it's alright. I'm here." It took a little bit of quiet words and gentle affection before Alex started to settle, quietly sniffling and wiping his eyes on Connor's shirt.

Alex tipped his head back, words coming out a little hoarse from crying, “I think I’m in love with you, and that scares the crap out of me” His fingers curling around the fabric of Connor's shirt.

Connor's eyes widened slightly at the confession before his expression softened, leaning in and pressing a soft kiss to Alex's lips, which Alex returned eagerly.

It was only a moment, but a moment was usually all it took, before the kiss broke and Connor nudged his nose against Alex's jaw. "I'm pretty sure I'm in love with you too, but let's get you past this icky headspace first before we do anything else."

Alex nods, burying his face against Connor's chest again as Connor moved so they could lay like that.

Connor's fingers moving gently through Alex's hair, coaxing him closer into sleeping. But he had a small question, hoping it would make Alex laugh, so he asked. “How can you still look so attractive while crying?"

And Alex did in fact laugh, before laying his head on Connor's chest. Relaxing into him, comfortably. This was what he needed, this was good.

"What did you do?" Kira sighs, tugging open the first aid kit as she looks up at Iz. There was worry clear on her face and Iz was just trying to brush it off. "It's nothing, Ki. I'm fine. Put your kit away." But Iz quiets real fast when Kira stares at her with a frown. "Stop it, you're bleeding."

The way Kira said it nearly made Iz's heart hurt, there was a fear behind it, and Kira looked near tears even with trying to hold it together. "Babe, I'm okay. It's nothing too bad." Iz said softly, more trying to reassure the raven haired girl in front of her. Reaching a hand to gently comb her fingers through Kira's hair, to which Kira leaned into the touch.

"Are you okay?" Iz asked after a moment, and Kira sniffled as she smoothed the bandage around Iz's leg. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Laying her head on Iz's lap, letting the slightly taller girl comfort her. Iz felt awful, Kira was never this vulnerable, this upset about the things she did. "I didn't want you to worry, pretty girl. But.. You're worried anyway, aren't you?"

Kira slightly chokes back a sob, pressing her face against her loves knees and nods. "What if i lost you? What if- what if i never got to see you again? I love you, don't you know that?" Tipping her head back to look up at the woman, and Iz thought her heart was about to break. Quickly tugging Kira into her lap, and kissing her jaw. "Sweet girl, I'd never leave you. There wouldn't be a person alive who could take me away from you."

Iz's hands moved to cup Kira's face, pressing a gentle kiss to her lips before pulling back. "I love you too, Kira. So much more than you know." Kira nods, leaning into the touch as she reaches for the pain medicine, taking out a few pills and handing them to Iz. "It's medicine, take it." Kira's voice was small, and Iz complied without hesitation before she herself spoke, "Come on pretty girl, let me take you to bed. I'll let you be the little spoon."

"Don't just stand there!" Kira yelled, shoving people out of the way to get to her cousin, Darya who was slumped over in front of her locker. Shaking and quietly sobbing, her arms over her head as if trying to protect herself. "Darya? Where are Alex and Connor?" She kept her voice even, the hallway starting to clear out. Darya shakes her head, tapping her hand against her locker while trying to find her voice. "Are they in the building?" Kira stays calm, and Darya nods gasping out a quiet 'Gym' before covering her face with her hands.

"Do you want me to call them?" Bringing Darya back from the edge of an attack was never easy, not for her at least. Darya sobs, her whole body shook as she nods. "Just call them, please." The way her voice broke, sent chills down Kira's spine as she nods. It wasn't long before the sound of running footsteps came down the hallway. "Darya?" Alex's panicked voice was heard first, and Darya sobbed again, curling up as small as she could get.

Soon, Alex and Connor were crouched down with her, Alex tugging her to lean back against his chest, while Connor brought his hands to her face to wipe away her tears. "You're going to make yourself sick." Connor said softly, as he peppered soft kisses to her face. Alex's arms were around her waist, rubbing along the exposed patches of skin he found as he gently kissed her neck. "I'm right here, love." Darya was shivering, but slowly starting to relax, one hand gripping at Connors shirt, the other hand combing through Alex's hair.

"That's it, slow breaths. We've got you, princess. It's okay." Alex murmured into her ear, Connor pressing his forehead against Darya's as he wipes her eyes again. "Can you tell us what happened, my love?" Darya shakes her head at Connors question, and Alex held her tighter. "Please tell us, we want to know." Alex kept his voice calm, as he gently kissed along Darya's neck. Their hearts broke when Darya explained what happened, Alex making a mental note to beat the person who thought it would be okay, and Connor agreeing along with him without having to say.

"Can we go home?" Darya asks softly, her voice barely there from all the crying. She was tired, wanting to curl up with her boyfriends and just be held for a while. "Of course we can, angel." Connor kissed her head, as he moved to stand up. Alex easily lifting Darya into his arms as he stood up, and she tucks her face against his neck. Alex was already carrying her out to the car, "Don't worry, baby. We've got you."
