PAST -Tour of LES Galleries with Cecilia André Sept ‘16
Sol Lewitt’s studio was in 117 Hester St, around the corner from the LES gallery which is now showing Sol’s photos of facades. The wall marks are often graphic. These late 1960′s pieces are precursors to the graffiti art that would later fill the neighborhood. One is also reminded of his DIA Beacon wall pieces with similar 9 square layouts.
