Just watched Sheldon's birthday and the big reunion in a way. Even though Sheldon and Barry are "rivals" Barry still shows up. Which in case he flirts with Leonard's mother the whole time. Which I sadly found amusing. It was nice to see Leslie again. As we hadn't seen her in literally 6 seasons. I wish she had more parts throughout the show. Stuart trying not to be a shadow yet still is one. I think it was a nice group of characters I think it would have been funny if they managed to get Zack to come.
Dorothy's Turning Point... Finally!
Yesterday I posted the strip that seems to me to mark the point at which Joyce began to deliberately remake herself into the person she truly is at heart, intentionally chiseling away at the rubbish that had accreted through her upbringing.
Yes, I'm riffing on this strip from the day before Joyce's confrontation with her parents:
But with today's posting throwing wide the doors on a possible poly relationship, a number of people are wondering if Dorothy would be ready for that.
So I think we need to take some soundings on Dorothy's progress, a la my 'Both these baby bi's got broken brains' post. Does Dorothy have a similar turning point to Joyce? Has she also had that moment of not just rejecting the old, but embracing the new? I discount Raidah's smashing of her presidential dreams, because it didn't lead anywhere, merely steepened the downward spiral that Dorothy was already sliding down. I think her actual turning point is here:
At this point she doesn't just decry her controlled ambitions, she actively adopts that which she loves most in Joyce; her passion for truth and kindness. That same passion that led Joyce to defy her parents all those months (years for us) ago.
This is her choosing not just Joyce, but accepting the messiness of an activism that might truly make a difference. This is the strip that makes this Dorothy possible:
So this is a reminder that while Joyce has been actively reforming herself for quite a while, now, Dorothy's only just beginning - and maybe I'm begging for a little grace for her while she learns how to walk on a new path? Especially given that she's also upended her assumptions about herself sexually and romantically. Yes, I want to follow Joyce (and Dorothy and Joe {and walky and amber and billie and ruth and sal and danny and ethan....}) through their tangled love lives. But I also want to see this Dorothy unleashed upon the world. I think we need her. And all her lovers.

Sheldon literally schemed a way to break up Leonard and Leslie by staging an argument between them he knew would run her off 👀 Like wow??? 🤔😬😅
