Leslie/Ben -
Sometimes I just want to flail a little bit over how much I love the way they've been handled this season so far - I love how gorgeously straightforward they are, and how mature they're being. If that dating rule hadn't been a rule, you know one of them would've asked the other out a long time ago.
because we had Ben gush about Leslie to the camera by his fourth episode, and we've had Leslie basically ask him out by his twelfth episode. and now we have Leslie listening to Chris setting Ben up with other people and not getting weirdly jealous, because Ben is clearly disinterested (and kind of annoyed). and we have Leslie being entirely unsubtle about Ben deserving "a real goddess", and Ben just smiling back at her, because yeah, both of them get it. and we can have moments like the ones they had in Andy and April and Ben's apartment, and have Ben bring away from that the idea that they feel similarly about each other, because the sheer understanding in that scene is wonderful.
And the fact that it's this dating rule that forms 'the obstacle' at all is actually perfect, because both of them care so much about what they're doing, and they realise that their careers are important to both of them - so what it comes down to is what will push them over that line. I can't wait to see that.
(I also think this is all happening without being over-the-top or overwhelming, because tying Ben to the town as a whole is just as important to his character, and Leslie is still off doing great things for her career and being a goddess.)
Anyway, this is basically a post about how I don't know what to do with my hands or my feelings, but it's okay, these two know what to do with their hands, and the writers know what to do with their feelings, and I am completely with them. I love how straightforward this is. Bring it on. Bring on the 'ship.
