the fact that people think of jane eyre as...
Explain
so much .. from the beginning there’s no hint that it might be questionable that rochester keeps his wife in the attic, a creole woman who she basically characterizes as a monster throughout the novel (using p racialized language). it’s also set up that the only way for poor perfect jane to be happy is if this woman (bertha) dies... luckily for jane she does end up killing herself...but of course when jane finds out that rochester’s weird possessive ass has been lying to her the whole time she basically just wanders off into the wilderness and almost dies?? and of course the only way for rochester to be redeemed for jane and him to have a relationship on equal footing is for him to basically go blind and lose a hand ???
