I've tried my hand at designing a particularly large wasp that mimics humans a la @drferox 's faerie post, with some liberties taken on account of the fact that the setting I designed it for has a much higher oxygen content in the atmosphere.
Much like our bees these creatures are the primary pollinators for the planets flora. Unlike bees they are particularly intelligent, able to figure out ways to adapt to the rapidly changing environment without intentionally conforming it to their needs.
There will probably be a less friendly, solitary variant of formic fae that I'll get onto paper, but this alone took me weeks.
