Cary Fukanaga's Jane Eyre (2011)

Okay, Cary Fukanaga's version of Jane Eyre is only a satisfactory portrayal of the book. I just finished the two hour long film, and I found that it didn't do an amazing job at taking into account of all the major events which happened through out the novel. Ugh, I think that the development of the love plot deserves a higher rating, but they spent too little time on the character developments and cut out a lot of other scenes. At times, I thought that you'd have to have read the novel in order to understand fully what was going on in the film. Ugh, I wish they made this movie into a saga like The Tudors or something. :( Maybe that way, they would have accurately enacted everything. They didn't even include a sexysexy scene which results in Jane getting preggos with her first child. Meh!!! AND ROCHESTER DID NOT LOSE HIS ONE ARM?!?!?! What happened to evoking sympathy in us?! D: Love Plot: 4.3 out of 5 (could be more intense) Character Development: 3 out of 5 (I'm giving this a higher score than deserved) Line by line script: 4 out of 5 (they missed a lot of important dialogue) Credibility of Plot Chronology: 4.4 out of 5 (they cut out a lot of scenes which resulted in low score of character development) Overall Score: 7.3 out of 10 Would I recommend it? No, not to anyone who hasn't read the novel. I've learned to appreciate the novel before I saw the movie.
