{LESSONS IN BUSINESS} Lesson #14 Numbers. Don't. Lie. People do. =============== Have you ever opened a bill then tossed it without reading it? Have you ever overspent on things your business "needs" but can do without? Have you sat down and calculated your profit margins - properly? These are all rookie mistakes and they will cost you. If you are not watching your numbers closely - daily - you are leaving yourself wide open. Numbers do not lie - ever. People lie. And no one can lie better than you - when you lie to yourself. • Check your bank accounts every day. • Watch your inflows and outflows every day. • Check your budget every week. • Check your profit and loss every month. Make adjustments as often as you can. A minor course correction of a degree or two here or there will see your business sail to safe shores. Ignoring the blazingly obvious in the numbers department will see your business start to flounder and sink. It's only a matter of time. Square your shoulders. Toughen up. Face the music.
