Hey @lessracquetball – sorry for the delay and the shortness of this!!
Marvin + overwhelmed; Whizzer/Marvin, pre-canon
It was three a.m. and Marvin was lying in bed staring at the man next to him. Whizzer had slid effortlessly into Trina’s place in bed as if he had always been there, and Marvin marveled at the way his sharp lines contrasted his wife’s softness. Marvin marveled at the difference it made in how he viewed his bed companion. He wished Trina would never return from Connecticut, if it meant he could have Whizzer in his bed always, instead of just in moments stolen from the blanks in Marvin’s calendar.
“What’re you staring at?” Whizzer mumbled as he rolled over to find Marvin staring at him. “Nothing,” Marvin snapped back defensively.Whizzer rolled his eyes, “If you wanted to admire me Marv you could have just asked.”Marvin was too tired to argue so he just rolled away, hoping he could go back to bed and Whizzer would forget the whole interaction. He should have known Whizzer wasn’t going to acquiesce. Whizzer slung his arm around Marvin and pulled him close, so that Marvin’s back was flush against Whizzer’s front.
“Is this what you were looking for then?”
Marvin wanted to answer, or push Whizzer away, or do anything really to put himself out of the position that Marvin usually put his wife in, but instead he stayed. He was suddenly overwhelmed with a feeling that he had only seen but never felt, a feeling that made Marvin want to throw up and sing simultaneously. He had been in Whizzer’s arms before, but the rawness of this quiet moment, with no post-coital haze and no looming threat of interruption pushed Marvin in an unexpected way. He knew he liked Whizzer, he knew he liked the sex and the banter but this, this was comfort in a way that he had never found with Trina or any of the other women he had been with before. Marvin wanted to drown himself in this feeling and shove it away and chase it forever but he couldn’t, he wouldn’t, he-“I’m going to leave her,” Marvin whispered.
