I wonder what it must be like to play in an orchestra conducted by Joe Hisaishi. To see the passion in his eyes, the joy in his massive smiles, the love he has for the music. He even sings along while he's conducting. The way he looks at his players and smiles at each of their cues, it would be unsurprising to hear if they themselves enjoy playing for him. And wow, to see him welling up after Hayao Miyazaki personally delivers flowers to him... just wow. Makes me miss playing in an orchestra. Having conductors that could freely express their enjoyment of the music with us might've helped prevent my orchestra burnout in high school. That and choosing less abstract modernist music.
