Updated list of favorite Undertale/Deltarune let's plays (and stream VODs) because the chokehold is still real.

look I'm biased because I find her voice very nice to listen to BUT she also really digs into games looking for secrets, thinking and talking about the story, etc. My favorite series for "hanging out with a friend on the couch while they play though a game" vibes.

OFF THE CHAIN voice acting. No, that is not a full cast behind the mic, that is one incredibly skilled woman. Her playthroughs of the games are stream VODs, which can be hit or miss for me personally, but in this case they're so well performed and edited that I barely notice.

Her Berdly voice is burned into my brain, and therefore canon to me now 😭

You know how I said Welonz's playthroughs feel like hanging out with a friend and watching them play a game? Davo is the same, but a completely different vibe. He's got a much more trimmed down and edited style than the other creators in this list, and is higher energy than even Snapcube.

His edits have me consistently laughing out loud, and while he makes a lot of jokes (sometimes at the cost of missing information on the initial playthrough), he's also not shy about showing it when the games hit him in the feelings.

The game is already so beautiful, just use a screenshot! Hinterland would be so disappointed you're using non in-game material to promote their passion project.

I know it's not unique at this point but I see it more and more in the LD playthrough community.

Wait, so... John Wolfe (a seasoned horror & adventure game Let’s Player and streamer) was just harrassed by T#RFs, transphobcs, and other conscrvativcs following a highly successful charity livestream ... where he cosplayed a favorite character of his, Lady Dimitrescu.

Wild. I don’t get it.

Anyway, now he’s released a video telling those people “good riddance”, saying he stands with his trans and nonbinary viewers ... and he’s planning to do a charity livestream for Trans Lifeline, in the face of the misdirected hate speech he received (for respectfully cosplaying a character). This is THE best “”“controversy””” I’ve ever seen, holy shit. Net positive.

Following that... Heck, to anyone interested in indie horror Let’s Plays, and/or Dead By Daylight,  I highly recommend his channels (YouTube and Twitch - the latter being where he fundraises for various charities, and where he’ll be supporting Trans Lifeline in the near future).

Might be strange to plug someone else’s channel, but I just think everyone deserves to be respected by the content creators that they spend finite resources on ... so here’s my random, wholehearted recommendation to fellow horror fans (though, he sometimes plays non-horror games too)

(Note that this isn’t his first time demonstrating his support for LGBT+ people, but it is the loudest, in the most uncertain terms, and specifically occuring in the wake of bigoted backlash, so I think it’s worth celebrating and getting out there.)

(He’s also been fairly vocal regarding stigmatizing plots in horror games that negatively affect disabled people, which is just... SO rare, especially compared to the scope of the issue. I know, I know, beware of over-respecting strangers on YouTube... but he’s making it hard, lol.)

I went looking for a let’s play of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and accidentally found my new favourite let’s player. His name is Sully and he doesn’t have a million subscribers but he cracks me up.

He talks nonstop, he sounds like Bill & Ted and he misreads the dialogue from time to time (which is why he currently thinks one of the NPCs is named “Salvia”) so you’d think I’d hate it but actually I love it. If you like let’s plays go check him out and give him a sub.

Highlights Thus Far:

“I don’t wanna be that guy and immediately suspect him of stealing the food because of how he looks.” [during the mystery where the overweight train passenger is accused of food theft]

“Detective Mario is the only type of Mario that doesn’t exist yet. There’s Dr. Mario, Super Mario, Paper Mario… I guess uh there aren’t that many Marios as I was thinking”

[when Princess Peach mentions having dreams of when she used to spend time with Mario] “whoa Princess I don’t wanna know that! That’s the kind of thing you keep to yourself!”

“I guess I gotta get the autograph of Timmy the Toad or whatever his name is, uh I forgot his name already because that’s how little I care about him.”

“Sure dude I’ll stay out of your way and let you do your paperwork but I don’t know how much paperwork you’ll be able to do without your fingers! I couldn’t tell if he had fingers or not. ANYWAY”
