I wonder, because I can't settle on a single idea, which logic do you use to create a playlist for your Fallout OCs?

uhhmmm something something... interplay/obsidian fallout's insistence on treating people as having the same basic motivations and inclinations regardless of time, place or context, and having those be so grounded in reality vs. bethesda fallout's fixation on brand recognition & wacky gimmicks taken so far that it warps even ordinary people in the post-apocalyptic setting into bizarre caricatures of humanity as a *baseline* rather than the exception... the latter approach exhausts and grates on me, while the former is darkly cheering, in a way

i did write this after watching a video about how bethesda fallout NPCs don't clean their permanent living spaces unlike NPCs in IP/O fallout games and it's such a small but stark example that kind of acts as a microcosm of the two teams' differences in tone. like, look at all of history bro. post-apocalypse or not, i think that humans don't like living in filth. fuck's sake, every modern fallout 4 player i know has Scrap Everything installed for a reason

I have a little headcanon that Danse and Preston would become friends post blind betrayal. On a surface level they are both soldiers and they really want to help people in the Commonwealth (Danse likes it when you agree to help settlers). On a deeper level Preston knows what it’s like to lose the thing that gave you purpose. He watched the Minutemen turn on each other and the citizens of the Commonwealth. Danse saw the same thing happen with the Brotherhood Outcasts. Preston is the kind of person to extend a helping hand to anyone down on their luck because he knows redemption is possible, he witnessed the return of the Minutemen to their former glory. He’s not going to ignore someone who has potential to be a force for good in the Commonwealth. Danse is at his very core a man of integrity. He’s searching for purpose in a world that hasn’t been kind to him or anyone for that matter. He joined the Brotherhood to have a purpose and to belong to something bigger, joining the Minutemen would give that same sense of belonging to him again.

That and I think they would absolutely talk about history for hours on end. They are both history nerds.
