Let's visit: ZooAmerica in Hershey PA!

It started as Mr. Hershey's collection of exotic animals, but is now an accredited Zoo focusing on animals of North America.

"Enrichment" is the zoo word for "making the exhibit weird so the critters have to think about something. " This gila monster has been enriched with a new cardboard cave.

More sleep.

(We were here around 11am - lots of critters sleep in the middle of the day.)

Maybe next time we'll get here when more critters are awake. But for now, I think I might need a nap too.

Wanna visit the Pumpkin-palooza at Hershey Gardens? Of course you do. Let's go!

Pumpkins were painted by students from a variety of local High Schools, including Milton Hershey School.

And a visit to the Gardens is not complete without a stop in the Butterfly atrium. Many butterflies were decked out in Halloween colors. (Can you spot the pretend butterfly?) The trees had so many skeletons. Several other bugs also had decorated enclosures.

Let's visit: My local Fire House!

This is a 100% volunteer run fire house. They happen to have an outreach coordinator and our homeschool co-op was visiting today.

They can get fully geared up in 1 minute. He has a no-motion alarm on his air tank in case he gets stuck and stops moving so he can get rescued.

The helmet he's leaning on is 14 -18 yo volunteers (who just help at the firehouse). Next helmets are "in training", "fully trained" (showing dept number), Liutennants and Captains have the red one, and white is for Chiefs.

Truck 1: Specific for vehicle incidents. Features inflatable lifts, rescue baskets, chains, ropes, cutting tools, lighting, extinguishers, blocks, a boat, ladders, hoses and water (it's still a fire truck after all).

Truck 2: slightly older, regular fire truck.

Cutters, fans, hoses, gear.

Truck 3: water tanker to bring water to where there aren't hydrants.

The 25th annual Susquehanna Old Fashioned Field Days!

This is a weekend festival in beautiful Bainbridge, Pa that boils down to a bunch of guys getting together to compare their old tractors and motors.

But it's open to the public, 100% free and very educational; so lets go!

See? So many tents of guys with old farm equipment.

Oh, hey, the apple cider guy is up and running. Let's go get a sample!

Ooo... Tractor Parade! 🚜 🚜 🚜

Right. Best part of any festival is the food, and we've got all the church supper booths. I'm going with a homemade raspberry milkshake and fresh cut fries.

Back to the old motors.

This year’s theme was "garden equipment" so there are a whole bunch of waterers:

The owner told us this one was used to water a strawberry patch.

Ha! I remember this one from last time we came. Automatic baby rocker!

Does anyone else make their mutuals their best friends in their head? 

Or is that just me?

I imagine road tripping and visiting people at their houses and stuff. Basically, something I would totally do with like family/irl friends. 

Except thetinkertoyboy ain’t nobody tryin’ to visit Pennsyltucky.
