So today is my Tessie’s birthday. It’s been a long time now since she left us, but her birthday is and always will be an important day for me.
So seeing as the stars haven’t come out yet, I’m gonna say what I plan on telling her star tonight. Every time I’m out under the stars, I find the brightest one and that’s her. That’s my girl. So here’s everything I’m going to say.
Hey there, Starshine.
Happy birthday, sweetheart. Twenty four today, and god I wish you were here to celebrate it with me. You’d love my partners, both romantic and QP. You’d love how they make me smile. You’d love how happy they make me.
There have been so many times over the years you’ve been gone that I’ve seen something in passing and my first thought has been “oh, Tessie would love this” and then it hits me all over again. I tell your star about it every time.
It’s… hard to know what to say at times like this. Hard to know what words would be enough, would do justice to the sweet girl you were. All the English degrees in the world, and I’d still feel unprepared when it came to describing just how important you are to me. And yes, I did say are, because even now you’re gone you’re still my sweet girl, the brightest star in my sky.
I love you, Starshine. Look after Jenny and Sofia for me, yeah? I’ll be telling her the same on her birthday next week. I hope you found Garfield up there. You always loved him, didn’t you? And he loved you.
