God the chain of events in this movie is ridiculously over the top.

After their first warning on the police (gagging Murthaugh and wife in their own home) didn’t work and some of their operations are disrupted, these criminals protected under diplomatic cover basically do the following:

- Tape a bomb to the bottom of Murtaugh’s toilet and writing on his toilet paper (that fails, but is still hilarious when it explodes):

- have top henchman randomly burst into another cop’s home and talk to him for 20 seconds before shooting him in the head (he was doing upside-down exercises and was completely at his mercy):

- Bomb the diving board of officer’s pool so that when she goes for a swim it explodes. Which is just...bonkers. Do they know her morning routine?? what if she didn’t dive for like 3 weeks?

Wire a bomb behind yet another cop’s personal stereo so when they’re all assembled for their weekly poker night, well you get the idea...

Send a pair of assassins to Murtaugh’s house in case he’s dumb enough to go there again (he was but it was for a plot convenient reveal) but of course, this being Murtaugh, kills them before he can be killed 

(another pair does get away with Leo and what’s left of Murtaugh’s car)

And finally, sending 2 helicopters (or 3?? there seems to be 2 flying in formation but a third one’s there when one’s on the ground) to Riggs’ beachside mobile home to shoot it to shit. Of course he survives.

But nope, diplomatic immunity and whatnot.
