"Simple can still appear evocative" As discussed in a previous post, arriving at the #pembrokeshire coastal town of #fishguard there were plenty of photogenic subjects to choose from. However, dropping down to the lovely bay at #goodwick I quickly spotted a favourite subject. Those that regularly read my blog posts or have followed this account for awhile, will be aware of my love of small seafaring vessels. I'm drawn to old fishing craft like a moth to a flame. Across the far side of the bay, in the shallow water of a retreating tide, a stranded boat, with two fishing rods pointed skywards was waiting patiently for somebody armed with a camera. In the picturesque bay, with a beautiful backdrop it provided attractive and interesting foreground, impossible to resist. Without any sign of the owners, I was free to wander around it at leisure, taking a variety of shots from several angles, perspectives and depth of field. Eventually focussing my lens on the details of the rods, the fixed spool fishing reels loaded with monofilament line appearing particularly photogenic. The strings of white feathers dangling on the transparent line from each rod, fluttering lightly in the breeze could not be ignored either. A slightly abstract, even arty farty view of a pretty landscape, but the results are attractive even evocative, so worthy of inclusion. Hopefully adding to the timeline, bringing additional interest and variety. #letitbelegendary #findyourepic TIP: A static subject such as a fishing boat provides plenty of opportunity to be creative and shoot from a variety of perspectives. Concentrating on details in an expansive landscape may seem counter intuitive, but at times the results can be surprisingly pleasing.
