talk bout artie
Send “Talk about-” and a name for my muse to talk about that person!
“...Artemis? Where the hell do I even start?! First, she’s such a problem! Everywhere I go with her, there’s always trouble! I can’t remember a single time I’ve ever been without trouble, I’ve been with her almost my entire life y’know!” Sigh. Every time he’d talk about her, he’d always make sure he’d let the world know how troublesome this Goddess was! “You know, one time, she dodged the apple I threw at her; she rejected my proposal! Then she piled a shit ton of apples on my head! What sense does that make!?” ...A deep breath to compose himself.
“...Artemis is, well; she isn’t the kind Goddess everyone thinks she is. No, everyone who thinks she’s innocently pure -- well, I don’t know what they’re readin’, but that ain’t the Artemis I know. She’s pretty scary for her size when she wants to be, she’s easy to annoy and she’ll probably kick ‘yer ass if you say something about her dogs. She’s like a crazy dog lady!” Rubbing his head, the Archer scratches his cheek. “Atalante’s like a daughter to her, I wonder how she feels about Artemis’ dogs..bein’ a lion and all.”
“She can be pretty fickle, most Gods can. She got her way because she’s Zeus’ favorite daughter, so whatever she wanted, she pretty much got. She’s super spoiled!” Truth be told, he spoils her a lot too -- so he can’t complain about this one too much. “..Ah, back on the being fickle thing -- she isn’t the type of Goddess to just strike you down out of nowhere. You gotta do something real stupid for her to want you dead.” He’s seen people do some really dumb stuff, huh.. “BUT, she is the type to get mad and start beating you with a stick if you fluster her! I’ve got personal experience with that one.” Though, it seems that’s more of a him problem than anyone else’ issue.
“..She once asked me why I wouldn’t become a full God with her. Why I wouldn’t become immortal. She wanted to be with me forever, I know that. The way she spoke, the way she asked...I feel a bit bad, but I denied her request immediately.” His tone became softer as he reaches this topic. “I..well. I only told her no, because I didn’t want to be like the other Gods. Becoming a God has a chance of twisting your worst traits and making them the focal points -- I didn’t want to be like that. I had the habit of flirting with women, married, widowed. Of course, Artemis was the only woman I loved -- but I just naturally complimented women I thought were attractive and sometimes went a bit overboard in my compliments.”
“..So, I didn’t want that to be what could define me as a God. Because, I didn’t want to hurt Artemis’ feelings. I didn’t want to betray her trust.” Softly, he gives himself a pitiful laugh. “If..I wasn’t such a stupid guy like that, I may have taken up her offer. I wanted to be with her forever too, you know. She’s the only woman I’ve ever loved -- I’m the only man she’s ever loved..” Looking at the palm of his hand, he laughs once more -- though this one is a bit more upbeat.
“I feel like..I was destined to fall in love with her. The moment I laid eyes on her, I was stunned. The moment I saw her in the pale moonlight -- I just felt peaceful. My chest, however, pounded. Not out of fear, not out of shyness -- out of love. I’m pretty sure it was love at first sight, that kinda thing. At least, for me it was.” A smile now crosses his features.
“Artie..well, I may say a lot of bad things, but most of it is all playful. She’s troublesome, but it’s not a bad troublesome. My life wouldn’t be the same without her trouble, so I got pretty used to it. She became my hunting partner, she and I slept together -- ah! Not in a lewd way, just..snoozing you know!? ...But, we did that too, haha...screw you Apollo! She snores, by the way.” He was getting off track -- jeez. Clearing his throat, he lets out an enormous belly laugh.
“Man, I can’t remember a day without her in my life. Even when we weren’t together since one of us was off somewhere else briefly, I always felt her with me -- every time that moon shined on me, I knew she was watching over me. I...always dreamed of touching the stars, ever since I was a boy. Maybe, it’s because my destiny intertwined with her? Regardless of the reason, when I died -- she granted my wish.”
Yeah...he got to finally touch the stars, to BE a star; a whole damn constellation!
“..She probably never knew it, but once I became a constellation? I was the one always watching over her at night. I could never say anything to her, I could never reach out to hold her hand...but I made sure she was safe, every night.”
“Every time there was a shooting star near my constellation, it wasn’t random. It was my way of crying. It’s hard not to hold the one you love, you know? To not be able to tell her you’re OK -- to not tell her thank you for everything she’s done for you. I think...my biggest regret, is not letting her know how much she truly meant and still means to me.”
Wiping the tears that brimmed in his eyes, he gave a soft smile as he gently touched just above his heart.
“..To make a long story short, she is the woman I love, above all else. I’d do anything for her...mostly anything.”
