Hey! I've been following your spn adventures since the beginning and I love your take on even episodes I haven't watched.
I tried watching the show earlier in the year, and got 1.5 seasons in before running into all the problems you so eloquently described earlier on. But could you tell me how the storyline with the yellow-eyed man finishes? Who was he? What did he want? Did he kill Sam's gf and mother? If so, why? I could google it, but I definitely want your take on the end of that plotline; they are the best. Also, thanks for the entertainment, you're a gem!
aw, thank you!
i do think you should give it another shot, though. i mean, it has A LOT of problems, but it is also....very entertaining? idk. maybe it’s because i have brainrot (ive been watching since the very first season), but i definitely think it’s one of those trashy shows that you can binge without thinking too much about it (except you WILL think too much about it, inevitably)
about Yellow-Eyes - his name is Azazel. he is a demon working for Lucifer. his goal throughout the entirety of the show was to free Lucifer from his cage, so that the Apocalypse could start. to do so, Lucifer instructed him to find a ‘special child’, that would eventually serve as the leader of an army of demons (and, unbeknownst to most, Lucifer’s vessel, as angels need vessels to walk the earth). so Azazel went around the country making deals with people - he would grant them their wish, and in exchange they would allow him inside their house in ten years’ time, so he could feed his demon blood to their kids and turn them into their ‘special kids’ (the families didnt know this part, obviously)
one of these people he made a deal with was mary winchester, the mother of the main characters. mary would not disturb azazel, and in exchange he would bring john (her boyfriend) back from the dead. never mind that it was azazel himself who killed john to begin with.....but the characters in this show aren’t very smart. so mary makes a deal and eventually the 10 year deadline comes a-knocking, except i guess she forgets about it, because on the day it happens she Does disturb azazel while he feeds sam (the youngest) his blood, which results in azazel killing mary, and setting john down the road where he would spend the next years hunting the bastard down. eventually sam got tired of his father’s holy crusade and decided to leave to stanford to study, BUT because azazel still needed him to open the gates of hell, he organized to have sam’s girlfriend jess killed in the same way his mother did (his trademark).
eventually sam starts having visions and developing psychic powers, and he is not the only one - other chosen kids do the same. azazel gathers all of them in a ghost town so that the strongest would come out alive. in the end there is sam and another character, but sam gets stabbed in the back and dies, and the other character opens the gates of hell and frees a bunch of demons (the other character eventually gets shot and killed by sam, who was resurrected by dean through a deal where he sold his soul).
during the skirmish with the hellgate opening, azazel gets shot and killed by the magic-gun-that-kills-demons that john was looking for, but by then he has already fulfilled the role lucifer had intended for him
