In an attempt to identify good external play spaces for children, Hill (1980) suggests the following values that an adult should have at the end of childhood play experiences:
physical fitness
intelligence
creativity and imagination
emotional stability and initiative
social assurance and cooperation
self confidence and competence
individuality
a sense of responsibility and integrity
a non-sexist outlook and
... a sense of humor
