Aw hell…. Face tried to school his face into impassivity as this strange man cheerfully identified him without, apparently, really knowing what he was doing. He could not completely fight the growing grimace though. If this was some new trick of Lynch or Decker, the con artist could not decide if it was completely asinine or secretly brilliant. He tried to scramble and regain something that resembled the high ground so he could make his escape. “I don’t know.” He turned away from the man, a bid to hide his suddenly-wildly recognizable features, and aimlessly started to pick over the apples again before slipping a few into a bag. “I have one of those faces—everyone thinks they know me from somewhere else. I was even mistaken for a New York Yankees player once.” The quip is a lie but one he is happy to own. It will convince this strange man that such comparisons are a cross he is forced to bear, and…well…he rather wished someone would mistake him for a professional baseball player once in a while instead of the felon that he actually was. He glanced around the produce department and lightly sucked in a breath. One woman, over by the carrots, was staring at him a little too intently. Ducking his head, he shoved a few more apples into the bag before tying it closed.
Gripping his cart, he tried to move past Goose. “As exciting as it is, being mistaken for one of the most wanted men in America, I really need to be going. My wife’s expecting me to bring the groceries home tonight since she has her hands full with the babies.”
