letter from juniper X touyuu
Thinking about the line “I love you, stone in my shoe”.
How one singular person can have such a huge presence in your life, the way a tiny stone can feel like a boulder.
How someone can linger in your mind and you feel as though you will never be rid of them. You will always feel their presence no matter how hard you try to be rid of them.
How falling in love with someone who doesn’t love you back can find so many different ways to feel painful and constant.
just listened to episode 8.5 of mabel last night and had to draw something for it :”)
(also shoutout to @annalimons for getting me into mabel!)
Everyday I continue to be jealous of people hearing Letter from Juniper for the first time. It's just so incredible and I swooned the first time I heard it and I'm still swooning. Mabel Podcast stole the air from my lungs and kept it in a jar. 🥰
You laughed, and I fell in love with you, there. There: I wrote it down, I turned it into ink and made it something tangible (but you could burn this letter and I would still love you, so it must be something beyond matter).
— Letter from Juniper
Every once and a while I am reminded that when I type an m in the google search bar the first autofill is “mabel podcast letter from juniper”
I still can’t believe the most romantic thing I’ve ever heard in my life is from a horror podcast I haven’t even finished yet, and was written from the perspective of a fairy to her human girlfriend.
The perfect depiction of young love, of a first love. The strangeness and beauty of the imagery she uses. IT’S FLAWLESS.
“I want to unpick you, like stitches, to see what makes you run - but I won’t. I will content myself with drawing your name over my wristbone to consider how you turn my blood to gold.”
Juniper what does that last part even MEAN I’m gasping
“Sometimes I think I would eat you if I could. There is a witch in a story who ate a girl she loved, and always afterwards when she spoke, flowers fell out of her open mouth. I would swallow you up, and you would be lobelia on my tongue.”
????? Juniper are you OKAY why do I LOVE THIS
“Every moment we have spent together is a shining stone in the bowl of my skull. I am greedy, so I take them out and look at them now and then, like a dragon.”
I am obsessed with this. I would put this in my wedding vows.
“Dear lily: my mother taught me many things, but she did not teach me this”
Crying, but it’s not done
“Where does it come from, the thread that ties us together? Who spun it? What is it composed of, what is it’s matter? I have half a mind to unpick myself, to find the source; but I won’t.”
YES tie back to the beginning but we’re STILL NOT DONE
“You laughed, and I fell in love with you, there. There: I wrote it down, I turned it into ink and made it something tangible (but you could burn this letter and I would still love you, so it must be something beyond matter).”
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
“I love you, knot in my heart-
Wonderful. Continue.
“- I love you hands on my hands, hands on my ribs, mouth on my mouth-”
So sweet!!!
“-I love you, stone in my shoe-”
WHAT
Most romantic thing ever written. Everyone else can stop trying, nothing will ever beat this very weird fairy girl trying to understand and express her emotions to an also very weird human girl
I've listened to Letter From Juniper (episode 8.5 from Mabel) like 5 times today now
I think I might animate it, it's so so beautiful and I can't get it out of my head
