You're in Japan now, right? How has it been for you so far? I'm studying Chinese and I have to go to China for a year, is it scary to be that far away from home?
No, not yet. I move to Kyoto in September. But it’s frightening. despite being just a few months away it feels so unreal, like any minute now someone’s gonna drag me away and tell me that i don’t belong in education and should go back to my kitchen…
But, I’ve worked hard to get to Japan next year, so when (if) I do go it won’t be scary at all. It’s just one tiny year out of every single year of my life, and it’s something I want to do. So there’s no need to find being away from home scary. It’s an amazing opportunity to take advantage of, and I will. And if i miss my family and want to speak to them there’re plenty of ways to do it via the internet. As much as I know I will miss them, I’ll only be away from my family for one year, and it will be wonderful.These days being far away from home isn’t a problem. There are so many ways to keep in touch with people back home that it’ll be like you’ve hardly left. You may feel homesick; trust me, I have felt that way just being a few miles from home; but you willl feel better when a family member or friend speaks to you via skype/whatever. Being far from home isn’t a factor worth worrying about anymore. Wherever you are, you will have family and friends who love you, and that is what matters.I would recommend taking a sandwich course within a year aboad to amyone; and I haven’t even taken my year abroad yet.
But yeah, soon I will have the money to buy my new camera, then I will start my 365 photo blog, then you’ll know exactly what i’ve been up to everyday :)
