A Consequence of Loneliness (Closed AU)
@letztermannsteht Desperation often drove people to extreme measures. It was all Roderich could think about as he stared at the ad he had put in the paper. Being the CEO of a bank seemed like it should have brought all the things he needed to thrive in life. He was successful in every aspect that most people would consider desirable. There was no shortage of money, avenues for travel, connections to advance himself, or ways he could expand his position. In spite of all this however, the older he got the more he found something lacking. There was a hole in him that he felt every time he sat alone in the high rise apartment at night while staring vacantly out at the city. The more wealth he accrued, the more empty it felt when people spoke with him or asked to spend time. It was clear they only now cared due to his status and yet he wanted some sort of contact. After much pondering, he had come to a conclusion that was most likely illogical and yet he still hoped. If someone was not within his circle of contacts and panderers, perhaps they could offer a bit more in the way of company. Even if it would still be money driven, in some small way it might bring him a sense of connection. This had led to the ad in the paper that he was no rereading and hoping it did not come off as far too strange or eerie. ‘Wanted: Someone to spend time with. I am a man in his late 30s looking simply for someone willing to be company on weekends or perhaps excursions every now and then. I am a CEO, hoping for someone not within my immediate circle or in similar circumstances as a companion. Younger than me is preferable but not necessary, and I do not want someone unwilling to speak about subjects like music or literature. If you need something covered in your life in the way of tuition, startup money, or funds for a project I am fully willing to cover it. Please call if you are interested and I will ask further questions of you to see if you are what I am looking for.’ There was contact information underneath. He had used a spare cellphone that he could dispose of if he got anything too egregious or terrible. It was sitting next to him now on a side table and he glanced at it. Twice he had already needed to turn down people who seemed a little too forward or, air headed, to say the least. A part of him was wondering if this had all been a terrible idea.

It is nigh on impossible for his expression to not soften a bit and he does not even particularly mind. “Things that come to mind, well- Crisp, perhaps refreshing even. There is still something, a little familiar about it. Well kept suits, some cologne, but under a layer it is almost, earthy.” Well his ears turned a bit red so he just straightens his glasses. “Things like tea or early morning coffee, books and new stacks of paper, freshly done linens, a well tended fireplace, beer I never thought I would much care for-” He cuts himself and, just nods a bit because he could absolutely hear that warmth in his voice and he flustered himself.

❛ i am glad preussen has taught you something , after all . ❜ THEY BOTH KNOW WHAT HE MEANS ---- he does not mean the quick reloading , which he had watched , silent , paces away as the other struggled , too young by human standards to have his hands occupied with weapons . he does not mean the fencing ; which he had taught him first , but then later honed by the one that was meant to be his ally . HE MEANS THIS --- the sweep over the dance floor , feet quick , hand warm at the middle of his back . roderich also knows that he had been the one to finance the dance tutors .
❛ it is unbecoming for an empire to not know how to lead . ❜ even when he is still so young , barely a child to roderich , who has seen empires shatter already --- he grows tall . THIS IS WHY HE IS LEAD ; he has been in wolfgang ’ s position more than enough . he knows how to control whilst being passive . ❛ i am glad you ’ re doing well . now , do quicken your step --- this is the viennese , not the english . ❜

"Sadly, I lost the receipt a long time ago, so I can’t just return you,” Gilbert said dryly. He was almost done cooking his curry, and he didn’t need Wolfgang’s extistential crisis ruining his dinner. “Do you want some currywurst? I’m also preparing some vegetables and rice.”
He checked his rice while he talked - busying himself made it easier to say things like this. “For the record, I have never said that you were never what I wanted, or needed. Whos aid that? Bavaria? Probably fuckin’ Bavaria. The birth of a nation isn’t something that we can want or not want - it just happens. As far as you go, as a person -- I fought tooth and nail for you, and I’m very proud of you. If it makes you feel better, I’m pretty sure that I’m not what anyone has ever wanted.”

Lovino gave a shrug, running his fingers through his hair and giving his dark locks a shake. “That’s all we can do, isn’t it? The past is the past, after all. No matter how shit it may have been, we don’t have the power to change it.” He flicked the ash of his cigarette off onto the ground, grinding it with the sole of his shoe into the wet pavement. Glancing Wolfgang’s way, he smirked a bit.
“Does it always rain this much where you live, or is it just your mood?” He teased, taking a drag again. “Didn’t expect to find you out here on my smoke break.”
❝ You don’t have to worry about me. I’m tougher than I look. ❞
“Tougher than you look….” Michael looked Wolfgang up and down in obviously exaggerated, doubting fashion. “Well, I guess if you throw a bolder at a bolder one of them has to give in eventually.”
Michi shrugged and finished taking his climbing equipment on. “All I am saying is this wall has some nasty parts and you know,... just avoid the worst case scenarios is all.” He gave Wolfgang a pat on the shoulder. “Not that I’m saying I don’t trust you. I just want you to be prepared.”
