Once a simple architect-priest of the God of Ditches, Gyunago is now the first non-Gokan in nearly five centuries to become the high priest of the Grand Bank of Abadar. Born in the city of Tupai in Shokuro, Gyunago was the child of a family that, while far from wealthy, was stable enough to ensure his education. Reaching the rank of Ditchdigger of Tupai (an Tien Abadaran equivalent of archbishop), Gyunago’s skill in diplomacy, and devout faith eventually caused his ascension as the high priest of the faith of Abadar in all of Tien Xia. Having negotiated with the inscrutable inevitables of Axis and banished Kyusttittom, the Ever-Slurping, a protean intent on on taking over Goka’s cheese markets, Masakawa Gyunago, the Chief Architect of Bridges, Ditches and Walls, has gain legendary power from Abadar.
As high priest of Abadar, Masakawa has access to the Vault of Steel Walls, buried deep below the Grand Bank, which contains over fifty constructs, most of which were built by previous Chief Architects.
Masakawa Gyunago is also a player on the geopolitical stage of Tien Xia. While he has stayed neutral between Quain, Lingshen and Po Li, he has been instrumental in brokering trade deals between Goka and his homeland of Shokuro. He has dispatched missionaries to Kwanlai and Shenmen. To the displeasure of some of his allies, Chief Architect Masakawa has made overtures to the hobgoblins of Kaoling, even hosting two of the Council of Nine at the Grand Bank.
