LEVERAGE IS BACK MOTHERFUCKERS
YALL.
One of the all-time best shows to ever exist has gotten a reboot that is out now with 2 new, VERY well written characters and 4 out of 5 of the fantastic original cast! You can watch it for free with ads on IMDB tv/Amazon Prime Video and we NEED to not only watch it and tell our friends to watch it, we need to be as vocal as we possibly can be about how we feel about it, because I have waited for literal YEARS for something like this to happen and I’ll be damned if I let another extremely well made show slip away because of insufficient ratings
Reboots are hard to pull off, and if you want to pull one off it needs to be done just right; it can’t be too similar, it can’t be too different, and if you have characters continuing over from the original it’s extremely easy to screw up writing them in a way that satisfies the audience but doesn’t seem hollow or 2-dimensional either, whereas new characters are bound to come underneath so much scrutiny it can be guaranteed to be met with mixed or negative feedback unless it’s done exactly right. So while preparing myself to give Leverage: Redemption a try, I was already pretty skeptical and anticipating at least mild disappointment.
I was very wrong.
Like always, the show is hilarious, serious, emotional & brilliant, the cast has the same chemistry with each other that we all loved, and they still give you the same mixed feeling of hope and satisfaction when you see someone awful get what they deserve, even if it is technically fictional when said justice is served—but not only do we get all the things we already loved about the show, we get them with two fresh, complex, and 3 dimensional faces that have their own unique backstories, and we get it in a way that helped transition the show to today’s relative day and age that keeps up very well with how the times have changed in our real world since the last season
Look.
TL;DR — if you liked, loved, or are even interested in the original Leverage, this reboot is for you. I hardly ever like reboots, and I tend to be fairly critical when a reboot I might be interested comes my way to be scrutinized, but I will stand behind this one till the day I die because it knocked my expectations on its ass and I was blown away because while it also was very modern and 2020s era, I felt like at the same time I was back in 2010, and honestly I’ve never been more satisfied with any other reboot than I have with this one. Please help me save it and spread the word.
