12. How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?Since it’d most likely be on his back, he’d probably just ask Elia if she could scratch his back. Elia gives the galaxy’s best back scritches, and it’s soothing, so he loves them. If Elia’s not around he’d probably just try to discreetly scratch it on a wall corner or something. 21. Why do they get up in the morning? He asks himself this a lot, actually, because some mornings it feels almost impossible for him to do so. He’d have to say he gets up for Elia. For his kids. For his mom and his big brother. Because he knows that if he just decides to lie down and die, he’d be failing all of them. He wouldn’t be accepting the gift of life that his family laid down for him, the gift of love and hope that Elia and the kids give to him every single day. If he just gave up 100%, he’d be disappointing them and he knows that he can’t bear to do that.25. What are their thoughts on marriage? He wants to get officially married to Elia so badly. He loves her more than anything and he wants to cement that love, but at the same time he’s afraid. He doesn’t want to extend this self-perceived “““curse““”“ of the Ayalas to her, since there is quite a bit of tragedy that surrounds him and his name. He ends up getting over this fear, and sometime soon after the series ends he ends up proposing to Elia and they get married and it’s everything he ever dreamed it would be.A) Why are you excited about this character?He’s such an intriguing character to me. I love exploring all his traumas and issues and his deep connections to the family that he’s lost and the one that he’s found. He’s got a lot of contrasts in his character, too. He’s something of a death-seeker but on another level he’s afraid to die, he considers himself a failure when he’s survived so much, he wants to stay distant but then ends up falling ass over teakettle in love with this little family comprised of a smuggler lady and her two adopted kids. Also, I just love Tired Sad Dad characters and I want to give him some tea and a blanket and a hug and a bunch of therapy because he DESERVES IT, GOD DAMN IT.

How They Change: He learns to not be afraid of having a family, and to not run away. He gains confidence and happiness that he’d thought he’d lost forever.

What They Would Get Arrested For: Do you honestly think this kid’s gonna be out doing something that would get him arrested? In all seriousness, though, it’d probably be refusing an order from a commanding officer. Jaerys genuinely cares about the soldiers under his command, and he’d refuse to participate in a plan that would get his men needlessly killed.

Why Someone Might Love Them: He’s charming and kind, and really dorky, despite his attempts to hide that detail. He’s a good big brother to Levi and a good friend. He’s also really pretty

Why Someone Might Hate Them: He’s very optimistic, so people who lean the other way might find him grating.

How They Change: He’s shaken after the disappearance of Calem, the crown prince and his childhood best friend, and begins to wonder what exactly the war he’s fighting is about. He never finds out.

Why You Love Them: He’s a genuine sweetheart and a goofball. I can’t help but adore these types of characters.

Short Story of Mine

“Okay, I just want you to breathe. Calm down.”

Levi stared up at the older man, his eyes filled with tears. “I broke it! It's the last thing I ever got from my brother, and I broke it!”

Titus sighed, running a hand over his face. He looked tired, his tan face wan and resigned. He was still dressed in his outer clothes, a long black coat thrown over a grey t-shirt and black jeans. “Le-Levi. C’mon. Look at me.”

Levi sniffed and wiped his eyes. “Yeah?”

“I can fix it. It’ll be easy. All we’ll need is a-” He glanced down at the cracked grip of the blaster. “-a new plate for that side.” Titus crouched down so Levi could look him in the eyes, golden and sparkling. He grinned, showing off an impressive set of canines. “I know I can be a dumbass sometimes, but I ain’t a dummy when it comes to weapons.”

Levi looked down at the ground, his cheeks flaring with embarrassment. “I feel stupid for crying, now.” He sniffled and laughed, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “Like I’m sort of fuckin’ baby.”

The man shoved his shoulder. “No, you aren’t. I’d cry too, if I broke somethin’ from my family that was important to me.”

Levi snorted. “Yeah, right.”

Titus stood up, running his hands over his multiple head-tails. “Yeah, I would. I love my family as much as you do, kiddo.” He ruffled Levi’s hair. “Even kickass pirates like me love their mommas.”

He paused, looking back at Levi. “Listen, Levi. I can’t imagine what you’ve been through.” Levi snorted again. No, and I hope you never do.  The faces of his brother and mother floated before his eyes. He could already feel his throat constricting, his eyes watering.

He fought back tears as Titus continued. He stood there awkwardly, hands playing with the zipper of his coat. “But I want you to know you’re safe here, now. And I want you to know that you can… I dunno, talk or somethin’ if you need to. I’m a pretty good listener.”

Levi looked up through watery eyes. Oh. He could feel his throat get a bit tighter. “Thanks, Titus.” He croaked.

Titus smiled, tight-lipped and still somewhat awkward. “Anytime, kiddo. Anytime.”
