Here's my entry for @levihanfest 's music themed Levihan Weekend! From the prompts I chose the 80s and finding each other in the crowd :D💜💚

Not gonna lie I wasn't sure if I'd be able to finish this in time cause I only committed to the idea on sunday 😆 I was really planning to just do an illustration for most of the month leading up to this event but then suddenly this wouldn't leave me alone. Also I was a bit too ambitious cause at first I was fully like "Yeah I'll do the whole song!!" mhm not in a week you won't xD but in the end I'm super happy with this :'D

I've had different versions of this in my head for a loong time lol (that's what happens when you're an animator and listen to any music I'm afraid) and I'm so excited to have it out of my head finally! Ofc it wasn't originally 80s themed but I think that was the push I needed to make it a reality cause I was genuinely having a blast thinking what they all would look like xD I do wish I'd had time to do the second verse too cause the amount of time Hange spends in the ridiculous jumpsuit thing is unfortunately very little 😭 but at least it exists now. Btw thanks for sending me inspo pics Kit! XD

I've also been a fan of Romi Park for a long time and honestly her voice is one of the reasons I gravitated toward Hange in the first place, but can you blame me? I feel like a lot of people don't know she's an incredible singer as well. Hopefully this helps some people find that side of her career. 😄 And since Hange didn't get a character song for some reason I'm gonna steal >:)

I came across a reference that felt so perfectly Levihan-coded, and I had the vision: the sound of a folk guitar, an autumn evening, the smell of last night's rain: the perfect moment to compose a song, isn't it🍂🎸?(Hange is definitely laughing in the background because, there’s probably way too much “shit” in the lyrics 😂)

My contribution to the Levihan Weekend- New Year's edition. Prompt: "I wish midnight can come faster so I can kiss you"..."why wait?"

Ok, these may not be the exact words but I cant find the post for the event prompt now.

And here goes

A little context *ahem*

Hange: "Ahhhh, why cant midnight come faster so I can be the first person to kiss you in 2026? Our kid always get to kiss you at the midnight of Christmas for your birthday and I have to settle for later. It is totally not fair. Lucky Erwin had kindly helped to look after them if not we wouldnt be able to have our little date on New Year's Eve. This is my chance to beat the brat and be the first person to kiss you for the year! Ohhh I cant wait to see their expression.😏.........(Hange continues)"

Levi: "After so many years together now, why wait😒"

I didn't want to miss the last weekend event of year so here's a little ficlet!

Trope: kissing a stranger at midnight

Prompt: “All those fireworks and you’re only looking at me?"

The sky was as unfamiliar to him as this new city and the person standing right next to Levi. 

Never mind the quiet afternoons filled with tea and paperwork or the silent hours of companionship atop the wall in the past. Nevermind the moments where she ran ahead recklessly and he complained and grumbled but still followed her till the end and captured exactly the type of titan she wanted. The warm fluttering in his chest after seeing her excited face was as irrelevant as the memory of her gentle touch which still seared his skin like a ghost refusing to let go. 

That was someone else, a shell, a person he’d buried long ago and moved on. That was another reality.

Now, the city of Liberio and their ongoing negotiations with Marley were the things that mattered. Encountering the warriors was, apparently, unavoidable during their stay and so here he was—being jostled among the excited crowd, counting the seconds to midnight.

Though how Levi had managed to get himself dragged out here, least of all with her, was a mystery to him

He sneaked a glance sideways. 

Hange. But also not Hange. 

Gone was the smiling woman who wore her heart on her sleeve, replaced by this stoic, expressionless warrior. A stranger. 

Levi didn’t know her and he had no intention of doing so anymore. 

Why are you here then? the voice in his head surfaced. Why did you come along with her? 

Because the kids wanted to see the fireworks, he reasoned easily. The 104th’s excited faces after days of tension and monotony had mellowed his resistance. Maybe he was just getting old and going soft on them. 

They’d warmed up to Hange quicker than he had too. They didn’t have the same past with her as he did, of course they would have. 

When he first saw her face after landing in Marley, despite all his mental preparation, Levi had frozen. She stepped forward to greet Armin with an air of professionalism he’d have never associated with her in the past. Poised, polite, wearing a plastic smile that gave away nothing. 

I missed you.

Unbidden memories resurfaced. Her warmth, her smile, the confessions she’d whispered as if laying a secret bare when they hid from the world in the cover of the night—I love you, she had told him months after he first said it to her. Lies. 

It all rose in a flash and he pushed it down just as fast. Their eyes met and Levi looked away, walking past her without a word. 

Their following interactions, rare as they occurred, were… intense. Clipped words, sharp retorts, dancing around the actual topic rather than confronting it. Hange had been repentant, but to an extent. After an initial apology she met his persistent cutting remarks and harsh demeanor with her own. 

And then, new year’s eve came around. 

Hange offhandedly mentioned how people celebrated with fireworks at the stroke of midnight in Marley and Sasha and Connie got overly excited. Nothing of this sort happened in Paradis so the kids wanted to see. 

They all left with Hange and Pieck but Levi quickly stepped away from her once the group broke up and mingled in the crowd. Yet somehow, amidst the shifting, restless people he found himself right beside her. 

“It’s surprising you came along,” she remarked nonchalantly. “I know you usually avoid such things.” 

“Bold of you to assume you know me at all,” he replied, words weighed by something heavier. 

A beat of silence. Then, “You weren’t the one hiding your identity in Paradis. I’ve seen the real Levi.” 

Somewhere in the background, Marleyans were slowly counting the seconds till midnight. Absently, he wondered what the people of the internment zone were doing right now. Surely they wouldn’t be celebrating another year of oppression. 

This kind of luxury was only reserved for these Marleyans. 

Hange’s eyes were fixed on the sky, lips pressed in a thin line. Levi watched the curve of her nose, her glasses that were perched upon it and her neat brown hair. It wasn’t a bird’s nest anymore, she’d trimmed them and gathered half the strands in a hair tie. Even her uniform was crisp and ironed. 

“A lot can change in four years,” he said. “I did too.” 

Just then the sky burst in colours. Blasting lights erupted over it as people cheered and hugged each other. 

The colours washed over them all and for a moment they played upon Hange in a twisted way, warping her figure into something Levi had killed long ago. Past and present clashed before a backdrop of lights and colours and suddenly she was Squad Leader Hange Zoe, standing proud with a fist on her heart. 

“All those fireworks and you’re only looking at me?” She murmured. 

Finally turning to face him, she met his eyes and they were as unfathomable as the first day he saw her here. She was putting up a wall, hiding what was truly beneath the surface with indifference. Back then she used humour as a shield while indifference was his retreat. 

Maybe now they weren’t so different after all. Or maybe this wasn’t real either—just another face she put up to show the world. 

His thoughts were exhausting, Hange’s past voice ringing in his mind in loops. Another round of fireworks clashed over the sky and he reached forward, grabbing her by the collar. 

“Hey! What—” 

Surprise bled through at their sudden closeness and through the cracks in her shield something else seeped out, something vulnerable and fragile. Something he used to recognize once.

The images continued to switch before him. The Squad Leader, Warrior, crazy scientist or the partner who understood him with a simple glance. 

When their noses brushed he muttered, “This means nothing.” 

And crashed their lips together. 

It lasted maybe five seconds but Levi’s body was on fire, his thoughts were a mess, there was a fucking lump in his throat and a stinging in his eyes. 

Then he pulled away, not even sparing a glance to Hange’s dumbfounded expression before he dove among the crowd and disappeared, his chest hammering.

It’s Levihan Weekend again, yay, which is why I’d like to share the first two chapters of this little high school Levihan fic with you 💘 This was written mainly for the prompt “Grumpy x Sunshine,” with a brief “Enemies to Lovers” as well. @levihanfest
