We had our first Cowgirl App! Saloon Pitches Hangout yesterday. We'll be doing these (and other juicy online events) regularly.
Andrew Smith and Sarah Yang joined us, and we chatted for a half hour about mobile apps.
Sarah is is founder and CEO of a mobile educational startup in Shanghai called MNE Creations, and has a passion for educational gaming. MNE Creations has created a language-learning game app for people who would like to learn Mandarin Chinese. Pam and I had actually already met Sarah at LeWeb and it was great to see her again and catch up! (P.S. Sarah did a demo for us at LeWeb, and we love her app. Haven't reviewed it yet as for the moment it is only on Windows phone. Looks like we may need a Windows Cowgirl!)
Sarah's app is a game geared towards young adults (but personally, I as an adult think it looks great for us too), bringing us into a simple gaming situation, and contextualizing the vocabulary by bringing us into a situational game that takes place in Shanghai. You can follow Sarah and MNE creations on Twitter, and like her Facebook for news. Again, it's on Windows for the moment, but should be released on Android in the near future.
She also asked for comments & feedback on her project, so please feel free if you have any comments!
Then we flew into app talk in general with Andrew. He's a new app user, but a seasoned software developer. We talked a bit about life as a new app user and his first impressions. Then we talked about his app ideas, for a content management system, and...and...
Well, I guess I'll let you watch the video for the rest!
