You guys, the book kingsblood royal by lewis sinclair is a must read. It's a 1947 satire focusing on white privilege and black demonization in America. Plot: a white guy finds out he has a black ancestor and although he might be "1/8 black" (at most) he commits himself to this new identity and holy fuck is this just gold. It perfectly shows how much of a joke the one drop rule is and gives insight on how blackness is constructed. To anybody who wants to understand the convoluted reasoning behind the black/white dichotomy in America, I'd start here.
