I remember the first time I got high smoking weed like it was yesterday. It was over two years ago, but that was a revolutionary moment. Some may look at it as the beginning of the end, others-the downfall of "Alexander." Oh yeah that was what they called me back then. I go by Lex now, however that's a tale for another time. Some may also see that first time experience as a young African boy in Harlem trying "to be down."

Prior to partaking in this, lol I mean before I smoked that dope, I did a lot of reading about it. That was just my nature, before I leave my comfort zone, I read about it. The great thing about my first time experience was its spontaneity. It was after school, on a sunny spring day, I was meeting up with Adonis to go to our volleyball game. Of course a loss was inevitable, yet we enjoyed the game itself. Volleyball bonded us in a way that only weed would later do.

Adonis: Yo ugly, I left my jersey at my crib.

Me: Damn bro, we're already late. WTF

Adonis: Chilll, smut lips. (The word thot hadn't been invented yet, so smut or slide was the commonly used synonym.)

Me: Aight since you live on Amsterdam, we can catch that BX 19 and get going.

Adonis: Bet

As we were walking towards the bus stop, only a few blocks from school, Adonis bumped into his dealer.

Adonis: Waddup bro

Kid Cudi looking ass dealer: Oh shit, whats up man?

Adonis: Got a volleyball game to go to, but I gotta pass by my apartment first.

Dealer: You trynna grab a dime before you leave?

Adonis: (Smiles distinctly. The only other person with that smile would be the joker from Dark Knight) I would love to, but I only got a 5 to spare.

Dealer: It's aight man, You're my son(New York lingo for boy or friend) I gotchu.
