Two weird faeries stuck in a human palace. They might become unhealthily codependent beyond understanding of the platonic! Call them romantically involved and oop a dragon’s chasing you down lol BAD move haha. They are besties.
Also a good part of their story is leaning into the themes of their different magics, with Sophie being able to change how she’s perceived but unable to change themself physically, while Ea can’t change how he’s perceived despite the fact that he changes(or should be able to change) his appearance a lot. Yes they’re both supposed to be at least a little trans coded.
Also - just wanna be clear, those are not actually their names. Fae in this world usually have family names and nicknames, but their true names are secret, and susceptible to change. Nicknames are given as a way to differentiate one from their family members.
Sophalexios means skilled defender, while Sophie means wisdom.
Knox is Knox Ea’s family name, typically being taken to mean fortress or hill, but really being a form of Nox, meaning night. Ea(pronounced by basically saying E-A) has an uncertain meaning, but it may mean ‘house of water’. These are actually two family names, but the holders of the name Ea passed and Knox Ea’s family ended up taking their responsibilities, and so gave their next child the name Ea to carry. Both families protected certain strongholds of water spirits.
